Family who used to live in Henderson recommended this hotel for our stay in Las Vegas during CES, but we really didn't like it.
After a long drive, my husband and I wanted to shower, but the water was icy. When we called about it, we got a string of confusing answers, until we finally found out that their boiler was broken, and there would be no hot water to be had for hours. By the way, it doesn't matter which button you press on the room phone: whether it's housekeeping, or room service, or the front desk, it all goes through to the same overwhelmed operator. And even then, the only way to talk to the front desk is to go down in person.
We like casinos, but the one here is sterile, kind of like a dead mall full of slot machines. There was not a single bar with a cozy nook in which to have confidences with one's sweetheart, and the fact that there's a day care center where you can drop off your kids seems kind of depressing.
We finally had hot water, but there are clearly still problems with the plumbing, since it would make gurgling noises all the time, and we wanted to leave. But it was nearly impossible to reach the manager to change our reservation. My husband left a message in the morning (in person at the front desk), and he couldn't be bothered to call us. Finally, we tracked him down, and cancelled the last two days of our five day reservation.
It probably wouldn't suffer so much for its problems, were it not for the extraordinary standards of hospitality you can find elsewhere in Las Vegas. The $170/night they charged us was ridiculous, given that after we cancelled here, we were able to book a similar room for less right on the strip in the much livelier Luxor. Unless you prefer the suburban glory of Henderson (and it really is suburban glory with loads of great chain stores all around), and you like cold showers, you should look around harder before booking here.
