My family has stayed in this hotel 5 - 6 times over the past few years. We stopped staying here about 18 months ago because the last time we stayed there were ants in the pool area (I HATE ANTS!) and because the breakfast "attendant" was more like a sentinel, seeming to stand at the ready for anybody who might be "hoarding". Because my favorite hotel was full this trip, I stayed here overnight with my young son. Things haven't changed much. The paint is peeling badly in the pool. The access door to the fitness room opens directly to the pool, causing the fitness equipment to rust. There was no remote for the TV in the fitness room, and I had to remove the bag from the trash can and overturn it to use as a stool to reach the TV controls (REALLY?! A universal remote can be had for $5). In the past, we once got a room with a combo VCR/DVD player; all other times, we got a VCR only (who travels with VHS tapes, with DVD vending machines everywhere?!). I was able to secure a ground floor room after explaining that because of recent surgery I couldn't carry bags up/down stairs, but the room we got smelled so heavily of Febreeze that I had to air it out by leaving my window open on a chilly November afternoon - leaving me to wonder what they were trying so hard to cover up. Both remotes in our room had broken or missing battery compartments, which they compensated for with Scotch tape (they did work, though). The tub stopper didn't work properly, and I had to plug the drain with a washcloth for my son's bath. The shower curtain kept creeping to the middle of the rod, because the curved rod was falling off the wall (and had done so twice previously, as witnessed by the unrepaired holes in the wall). The bathroom fan was so loud that my son couldn't understand me over it. The telephones were poor; when my husband called us, I could barely hear him (and he has a booming voice); my son couldn't hear him well enough to understand him. When I woke in the morning, it felt as if my feet were elevated; turns out the mattress in my bed had what can only be described as a "sinkhole". (I wasn't brave enough to pull back the sheet to find out why.) The free breakfast is a total carbfest - no protein anywhere except for the peanut butter condiment and milk for the cereal. No butter/margarine was provided either. As I exited the shower, there were about a dozen ants on the bathroom to greet me (we were, after all, right across from the pool, where they'd been noted on previous visits). As a previous reviewer noted, the instructions for accessing the internet are incorrect and outdated. Only one luggage cart is available, which means it's usually NOT available. On the upside, the place appears clean, the front desk staff are friendly and helpful. Microwave, fridge (with small freezer compartment), and coffee maker in room - all clean and functional. This room is worth about $50-$60 in my opinion, not the $80 I paid and certainly not the $90-$100 listed on the chain's website.
