We arrived for an early check in, and they were completely ready for us. I did however try to push my Marriott Gold Elite perks and asked if they had any free upgrades available. The lady at the desk didn't know how to convert my "Reward Points" reservation to give me a free upgrade so she assigned us a very nice room which I had reserved in the meantime. She told me if I didn't mind, when the manager arrived in 15 minutes, I could potentially switch rooms if it was ok to wait. I had no problems with that. My wife is pregnant, and the more room we had the better. Mind you, the room we were assigned in the meantime was more than sufficient.
We checked in about 2:45 I believe and when I walked back down from dropping off the luggage and the wife in the room, the manager had arrived and didn't even have a chance to read the note the lady had left on the check in monitor. Needless to say, he went out of his way to call room services and make sure a suite was open and clean for us. He made the change, showed the lady how to do it for future reference (he told her she wouldn't have known how to do it unless an experienced person had showed her).
The suite was room 302, at the end of the hall facing west. Very comfortable and large new room! Two physical rooms and two bathrooms. One bathroom had a separate toilet room inside of it and a tub/shower separate combo. Two sinks added to the niceness of the amenities. The living room area had a kitchenette in it with a sink, coffee maker, and a mini fridge. The staff was nice enough to let me take a real ceramic dish from the tempting breakfast area ($5 for continental and $8 for all you can eat warm plates) to use in the room.
Parking is free, and there is a theater and casino right next door. Overall, great location, right next to route 50 to go to Tahoe. There is also a great strip of stores south on the road for about 5 minutes if you want to take advantage of the lower NV taxes! Costco, Best Buy, etc are conveniently located for any food, gas, shopping if you're there for a holiday weekend like we were (Christmas Eve weekend, Friday the 23rd).
Room Tip: get an end room higher up! Corner suites are lovely!
