We have stayed at the Marina Inn for weekend getaways several times. The room furnishings are equivalent to what one would expect at a high end Marriott or Hilton. The staff is incredibly friendly and their shuttle will take you anyplace in the area. The view of the Missouri River and downtown Sioux Ctiy from the riverside rooms is beautiful. We are bicyclists and were pleasantly surporised to find that South Sioux City is nationally recognized as a Bike Friendly Community with an extensive trail system that runs right by the hotel and that you can cross the Missouri River on trail over the nearby bridge and access the Iowa and South Dakota Trails - we actually rode our bikes in all three states on just a morning ride.

We stayed at the presidential suite for about $300 a night. It was a bit pricey, but very nice to spread out. Over 1200 square feet with big windows overlooking the river. I really loved this room. Although, I would not decorate in this era, it was adequate. The bathroom was huge, with a big hot tub and a seperate shower. No balcony however when staying in this suite.

We stayed 5 days with 3 kids. We stayed on the river side which definitely has nicer rooms than the other side. The room smelled a big musty, but other than that very nice. Each room had a microwave and mini-fridge which was really key as there was no breakfast included in our stay. Though the restaurant offered brunch, it was quite expensive. There was an indoor pool that was well maintained and clean. Even with the group discount, the hotel was still a little pricier than some better hotels in the area. Though nice, I don't think we would choose to stay there again if it weren't for the wedding that was in the hotel. The food at the wedding reception was some of the worst wedding food I have ever had in my life. We are not picky eaters and even my kids were complaining how bad the food was. I felt bad for the bride and groom that they paid for such a terrible meal. However, the service at the reception was excellent and the whole hotel staff were very accommodating.

Just completed a short stay here with some work colleagues. Note, Lobby is under renovation - no big deal. Looks almost complete and very nice. Location is in older neighborhood but right on Missouri River. Big older Hotel which is in the final throws of a major renovation.
The good: Rooms very nice. Nice comfortable bedding. 42 in flat screen TV's with lots of channels. Great view of river (request odd number rooms). Kahill's Restaurant - om 2nd floor overlooking River. Pricey for location but great food, good service. Not eating? Have at least a drink at the nice bar.
The not so good: Service at desk could be better. A member of our group was not given his credit card back upon check in. Had to turn around and return the next day to retrieve. Could they not have called his room and left a message or let him know the card was at the desk? This is basic customer service.

After reading other reviews, they should train their employees at the desk better.
That being said, I would choose this over any other hotel in Sioux City. Price might be a few bucks higher but accomodations are terrific. NOTE: I would not rate as high if I had a room overlooking the parking lot.

ps, its nice to see they have invested lots of $$$ to renovate this older property.
