“Good for North Platte”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 January 2012

Spent one night here recently. First time @ this property, but have stayed at many Hamptons before. Close to Hwy 80, near Village Inn and Applebee's, but cannot drive from one to the other easily. Best to walk--very close, just no connecting parking lots and lacking good signage. Older property, fairly well cared for, but showing age. Room was dark and smelled funny. Older, dark furniture. No fan in bathroom. Business center very poorly designed with outdated equipment. Staff was friendly. Much better than the dilapidated Fairfield Inn I stayed in the night before in West Des Moines, but nowhere nearly as nice as the Hampton Milwaukee Airport I stayed in earlier in the same trip. Probably as good as it gets in North Platte!

“Not a bad stay”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 January 2012

We had a clean room and beds. The breakfast was great, and staff friendly. The pool heater apparently was out or something because it was too cold for us to swim in (indoor pool), but they were working on it the next morning after we had told them about it. Would stay here again.

“Travelers Beware”

We stopped on the night of July 11, 2011, during a very powerful thunderstorm and extremely high winds. During the check-in, while parked under the main canopy, one of their heavy metal trashcan lids was blown into the side of our vehicle, causing damage. Long story short, after months of exchange, they and their insurance company have decided to leave us hanging. We all know that if there was damage to their property during your stay, they would charge you. Somehow it does not work the other way. They are typical big business, screw the customer. So now not only does it cost a nights lodging, I now have to meet my insurance deductible for this damage.

“Friendlty staff, pleasant stay”

Hampton Inns may be little pricier than many road hotels and motels, but they are almost always a good bet for anyone looking for friendly staff, a comfortable clean room and a good breakfast. This hotel met our expectations. The only thing we asked for was a room away as far away from traffic noise as possible. We had a very nice conversation with the night desk clerk, followed by a very restful night's sleep, a hearty breakfast and pleasant exchanges with the breakfast room staff and morning desk clerk.

“Not So Classy, Clean or Consistent Nasty Room”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 November 2011

This Hampton Inn at North Platte really is a disservice to the chain except for some of the nice people *serving breakfast * and this doesn't include the cleaning staff (even though I'm sure there are some that would and could do better). I can hang with old and out of date, but not dirty and nasty.

We stayed in a 2 bedroom suite which raises expectations - Wow how wrong. The pillows smelled like the last 100 people that slept on them with serious body odor - even though clean pillowcases or at least washed in semi-warm water. Disgusting! The recliner had so much travel soil and stains on the arms head rest, seat and leg rest (did I miss any touchable parts) that it was like a major lab experiment. Beds had been replaced within the last few years and mattress good. Moved it, though, dropped something behind it - aaaa filthy, never vacuumed same with any thing that most people don't move.

My husband raised the leg rest handle and it popped up. Surprise! it was full of degraded food, old stale popcorn, dust, dead bugs and some I didn't want to figure out. Hadn't ever probably been vacuumed or for that matter any of the upholstered furniture. Of course, that cleaning is not part of the Hampton's Inn standard, cleaning.

Carpet major stains and soiled areas. A few of the ladybug imitating beetles bugs flying in the room on the 2nd floor and trying to get out. A few on the beds. Mold in the corner of the bathroom.

Then all of the cable went out literally for the Nebraska game on Nov 13 - well that didn't set well with husband or many others. Had to travel to the local restaurant to watch.

Good aspect was looking for a room that was quiet within the hotel and there are some on the back side even though hotel is located on the 2 major highways intersecting.

You've been warned. Good Luck if a clean room is important to you!

Room Tip: Make sure you get a remodeled room and tell them you expect it to be clean which means vacuumed unde...
