We chose this motel for a return trip for its convenient location and fresh appearance after staying at a less convenient motel on our way out. Upon our arrival, we weren't disappointed in the lobby, grounds, or room, which was spacious, bright, and appeared new and modern. We dropped our bags and went out for dinner. Upon our return, we noticed no soap in the bathroom or bathmat, which I procured from housekeeping (who were still working at 7:00 p.m.!) Then while showering, we noticed that the inside of the shower curtain had mildewed slightly---clearly, not something that had just happened. When we pulled back the sheets, there was evidence that they had not been changed!

I politely, but firmly, explained the situation to Randissa, the night manager who had once been a housekeeper, who was horrified. I asked for linen so I could change the bed (we were too spread out to move) and for compensation for the clear lack of room care. Though sorry, Randissa explained that she had no authority to adjust our bill but said she would leave the information with Chris, the general manager. I wrote an extensive note, changed the sheets, and we left the next morning not knowing what would happen.

Two days later, Chris called and was thoroughly apologetic after hearing my story, explained that there would be a shakeup in procedures in housekeeping, and totally refunded our lodging cost! It was actually beyond what we had expected and feel that management is working diligently to make this motel very user friendly. Though I would be careful, I would certainly come back here in the future after seeing how this problem was handled. The motel is comfortable and convenient. If the housekeeping is up to par, it is a very good place to stay.

Also, the Oak Tree Inn chain has a Penny's Diner, an onsite restaurant, at each location for breakfast. You receive a voucher for a choice of three or four hot meals or a deduction from other menu choices. The breakfast was filling, tasty, and a nice change from the usual continental breakfasts at many motels.

This was not a stress free, totally relaxing experience, but it ended on a very positive note due to a diligent and customer oriented manager. It is worth investigating this Oak Tree Inn.
