“Not up to standards”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 15 November 2011

During our two week cross country trip, we enjoyed the Hilton Gardens we stayed at. Since Kearney, NE didn't have one, we thought we'd try the Hampton, which is under the Hilton umbrella. Ugh! It is not the same. At $114 a night, I expected more than a toilet that cycled every 7 or 8 minutes, a tub that needed a vise to shut off the flow, not hearing the toilet flushing to the side and above us, and window that didn't need two people to open it! I asked for help and the lone desk clerk was not able to assist because there was no fix-it person on staff at that hour. As far as stuff that doesn't really matter - the chair in our room needed reupholstering and the free breakfast was, well, just not great. The bananas were brown, the fruit salad looked old, the hostess was a grouch - and really, how do you mess up oatmeal? It was not good. In all fairness, if you can get past all that, the room was clean and the beds were comfortable. The desk clerks are nice. I'm giving it three stars only because THIS HOTEL USES BIODEGRADABLE PLATES AND UTENSILS AT BREAKFAST! Yea! In Kearney, at least, try the Best Western or the Fairfield instead of here. This was just not worth it.

Room Tip: Try another hotel until these guys upgrade their business!

“Loved staying at the Hampton-Kearney”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 November 2011

I recently returned from a business trip in Kearney & I stayed at the Hampton for 2 days. I had a great stay there! The staff is very friendly, the room was clean, bed comfy & very quiet. I really liked the fact that the hotel always had fresh fruit available, coffee, tea and they now have a hospitality time in the evenings; beer, wine, cheese, crackers, snacks etc. It was just like home when I went back to my hotel. The breakfast was good also. This hotel was just very comfortable & I would go back there again. Last time I stayed at the Holiday Inn, they offer nothing free there & the night manager was rude.

“This concept has run the course... and this hotel disappointed me”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 26 October 2011

If you have stayed in a Hampton Inn over the last 5-10 years... you will generally know what this place is like. Hampton needs to freshen up their concept.

The Kearney Hampton Inn has signs plastered everywhere. The company that manufactures signs for Hampton Inn is doing very well. They put a sign on everything. This hotel feels like a brightly lit hospital with signs pointing to different wards and sectors. It has a sterile nursing home feel to it. Check Inn was friendly. The employee checking me in made friendly convo... I mentioned that I was in town for a meeting. Then she pushed the issue and asked who I met with. Hmmm not really her business... but I told her anyway.. I thought she was probing unnecessarily... not sure if it was for marketing purposes, or if she was just nosy.

In my room, I could not plug in my cell phone or the iron without unplugging something else. The ironing board was one of those table-top versions. Internet was free and the signal strong. Nice TV and comfy bed. The rest of the room was boring. I am getting tired of the Ouija board they have on the bed with the remote on it.....

They did not open the workout room until 6 am. I think that is ridiculous. Some people need to work out earlier than that. Why not 24 hours? Of course the door had a big sign on it explaining the hours.

Breakfast.... Eggs were clearly made from a pre blended mixture. They had this huge gravy ladle to scoop gravy out of a flat pan. You had to hold it sideways and drag it. Those ridiculous little salsa packets are still around. The coffee did not seem to be of a high quality or freshness level. I wonder if they changed suppliers. The Hampton free breakfast used to feel like a great deal... now it feels very standard, and like they have decreased the quality if their edibles.

The rate is not special compared to the other hotels in the area. It was just as expensive as the others and the other hotels appeared to be much newer, fresher, with more warmth.

Room Tip: Bring a three prong adapter if you need to plug in more than one item.

“Not what I expected”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 October 2011

I just returned from a business trip in Kearney, NE. My hotel reservations were made for me by my co-worker. When I saw we were staying at the Hampton Inn, my thoughts were…this is not going to be good. But I was surprisingly proven wrong. Right off the bat, the check in staff were very friendly and fast. The room was nice and clean…and there was a microwave and fridge in the there! The cleaning staff was very good and fast. I came back to my room a couple of times before noon, and my room was already cleaned.

Also in the evenings, Monday – Thursday there are snacks in the lobby and a very friendly member of the staff that asked you if you would like a glass of wine, ^5 on that. Breakfast starts at 6 – 10 am and needless to say the breakfast options are very good. Better than most hotels. Oh! And warm cookies are made in the evenings…yummy!

So needless to say, if I make a return trip to Kearney, NE, I will be more than happy to stay at the Hampton Inn.

“So quiet at night I thought I was the only person in the hotel!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 October 2011

A great night's stay. I connected to the free, wireless, high-speed internet with no problem. I had breakfast at 9am and the items were fresh and plentiful. Friendly staff--both at the front desk and the housekeeping team. My room, the lobby, the halls were all clean. Very good location--close to gas stations, restaurants, and it's about 3 miles from the University of Nebraska at Kearney. I would definitely stay there again!

Room Tip: I had a room on the 3rd floor and it was very quiet.
