We stayed at this hotel for two nights this past weekend. Our room keys didn't work at all when we first tried to access the room. During the remainder of our stay we never could use the key to access the rear entrance to the room. Half of the lights in the room didn't work, desk light out, one bedside light out, vanity light...sporadic. Sometimes it worked sometimes it didn't. There were two sinks, one on the vanity and one in the bathroom, one only had hot water, the other only cold. At least we had both temperatures covered. Then that night when i peeled back the sheets to go to bed, I find a couple little ants crawling around. I squished them, checked the rest of the bed and went to sleep. The next morning more ants on one of the bedside tables. The ant issue was reported to the front desk, they offered to put some poison out and since i'm currently seven months pregnant I declined that offer. Night number two i woke up with an ant on my face. During check out I asked them for some sort of credit on our bill because of the ant issue and the girl working the front desk told me that she was only authorized to credit $20 per night. I decided that was fine, eager to be done with this hotel once and for all. Well, today we check our checking account upon returning home (we had used a debit card to pay) and find out that they had run the pre-authorization charge for both the original amount and the new 'discount' amount, which effectively tied up the remaining balance in that account causing us to overdraft the transactions which came after that. I called the hotel manager and he said there is 'nothing we can do about pre-authorization charges after you check out, you will have to deal with your bank'. Thankfully our bank is much more reasonable than the Quality Inn. They throw around the word 'quality' pretty loosely if you ask me. Oh, and their "free hot breakfast" comes in the form of a voucher for the attached cafe where one of your three choices is HALF A WAFFLE! Not even a whole waffle, HALF. Hastings is my husbands hometown and we travel there a few times a year, next time when the better hotels in town are booked we will drive north to Grand Island and stay there. I gave them two stars only because they are pet friendly and I appreciate the option to bring our dog and the staff that we encountered during our stay was very pleasant.
