“Better Hotels to stay in”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 October 2011

I stayed here for 3 nights in Sept. 2011. This hotel is outdated and needs some major updates. You can see water damage on the walls that go to the outside, Mildew in the bathrooms. There were also a couple of females walking around the bar/lounge not sure what they were doing but it sure looked like they were looking for some business if you know what I mean. One of them came up to me and gave me her phone number. That is uncalled for in a place like this. I will be looking for someplace else to stay next year.

Thank you for your comments. We appreciate your business. The Hotel has substantially completed a rooms renovation featuring new bedding, plasma televisions, and upgraded decor. We are the largest full service hotel in Grand Island and are proud of our quality accommodations, distinctive service, and affordable rates. As a full service property with a restaurant - Garden Cafe and Bakery - and Lounge, there is always the possibility of a guest acting inappropriately. Whenever we receive a complaint concerning guest conduct, we always respond promptly. We regret that we were not aware of the situation that you addressed. Should you have the opportunity to visit again, we hope that you will give us the opportunity to meet and exceed your expectations.

“One of my favorite hotels.”

As a business traveler, you learn which hotels to stay clear of, and which ones offer a consistent value over the years.
This hotel is by no means an Embassy Suites or a Marriot. If that's what you are looking for, continue East on I-80 until you get to Lincoln. But for the price, I think this is the best value in Grand Island.
My favorite hotels are the ones that still have a restaurant and or lounge in the main building. This has both with the Garden Cafe and Tiki Lounge. Great food, and the bar is something out of the early eighties which ads a certain coolness factor.
The rooms are large, and the hotel is in the process of renovating them. Flat screen TV's and nicer furniture greeted me the last time I was here. The lobby is also in the process of getting a face-lift.
There's an indoor pool, business center, and work-out room. I've always felt safe at this hotel, and I've never had any experience where the rooms weren't perfectly clean.

Room Tip: In the process of renovating rooms - you might ask for one which is already completed.

“OK, not such a good value though”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 July 2011

Don't be deceived by the lobby, the hotel is not that nice. The rooms are warm, AC doesn't work that well. The room smelled like mold. The shower had mold. Ok for 1 night, kind of high...everything else was though.

“Just Awful...sleep in your car if you have to.”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 July 2011

The internet connection was non-existant, but they kept arguing with me that it worked fine. When I suggested they were swindling me, they offered a two-dollar discount, but only after a bitter struggle.

Mildewy smell never quite dissipated. Pathetic A/C.

I don't think anyone here has ever seen a real hotel .

I would recommend this place to my worst enemy, but normal people should keep driving...anything is better.

I am sorry that you had a bad experience at our hotel. There's only one incident related to the internet that happened in July 7 through July 10 in our hotel involving a discount back to the guest, so I don't know if this is the same one we talked about. I had personally worked with a guest on the morning of July 8 along with my Sales Director and FD clerk. The guest got upset with frontdesk personel because he could not get on the internet with his laptop. I resetted the server and used my laptop to access the internet through the wireless network which same wireless that the guest used. I had no problem accessing the internet. He refused to let us help him with his laptop but still wanted us to give him discount because he could not get on the internet. To please him, we did offer a over 27% discount off his rate, the two dollars he mentioned was just the taxes refunded on the discount. There was a lot of rain in the last couple weeks so yes there is some high level of humidity in our area and if the AC could not keep up therefore there was a fainted smell. We did caulked the room along the AC and window. Thank you for let us know about the problem. I sincerely apologise for the inconvenient it caused you and want you to know that the discount was more than what you wrote.
