I believe there is a Westerner and a Grand Westener in Chadron, both with the same owner. The Grand is toward the west end of town. I stayed at the "Grand" and was very pleased with the quality and value I received. The room was very clean which is always my #1 concern. It did offer a refrigerator if that is important to you. Other than that, it is a basic facility, but great for an over night stay. There is a restaurant next door that you can walk to.

We booked with Russ by telephone; he had our room ready when we arrived. Basic, fridge in room. Near to restaurants and tourist office. Cheap!

This place is a hidden gem. After a 12 hour day on the road in the hot Nebraska sun, this was a nice play to spend the night. This was the only place on my Nebraska roadtrip to have the AC in the room already turned on so that it was nice and cool upon my arrival. The owner said it cost him a little extra money to do it, but wanted to keep his guests happy. It was truly appreciated. The room was clean and spacious and I was able to back my car right up to the door, which came with spurs as doorknockers.

The only quibble i have is the the ice room is only open from 7am-10pm so I was not able to get ice as I had to leave early the next morning. I would definitely return!
