“Average hotel”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 February 2012

Stayed here for two nights. Kelly Inn may be a fantastic hotel compared to other West Yellowstone properties, but to be honest we found it quite average. Rooms are ok, but nothing special. Staff and service was ok, but not especially friendly. Breakfast was JUST ok, even for a complimentary breakfast. But I guess thats just how it is when you are close to a major national park. Location was great of course for visiting Yellowstone, and dining options are within walking distance from the hotel.

We're disappointed to hear that you were not impressed with out hotel during your recent winter visit after traveling from so far away. As you mentioned, being next to a national park makes it difficult to compare hotels in this wilderness area to modern hotels in major cities. Since West Yellowstone is surrounded by 2 million acres of public lands, there is simply no private land available to build new hotels so lodging choices are somewhat limited. Fortunately you were here during the lowest rate season of the year when rates are 60% less than summer when every hotel is town is usually sold out.

Though we are certainly not new, we do invest every year to upgrade and improve our amenities to keep our guests coming back. Last spring we added new Simmons Beautyrest pillow top beds to every room. Just prior to Christmas we added new 37 inch Panasonic 1080P LCD TVs to every room. As we continue to strive to improve the comfort and convenience of our guests, we value and appreciate review comments such as yours that help guide us towards new projects to hopefully be considered better than average.

We are very excited to announce that this coming spring we will be replacing the furniture in every room with new rustic log style furniture to further enhance the Yellowstone experience for our guests.

We encourage all new visitors to Yellowstone to visit the web sites of all the available hotels in West Yellowstone or to call around and ask questions before making their lodging choices so that they can compare and make the most informed decision possible. We certainly hope that you will have an opportunity to return to West Yellowstone in the future and will stop in to see our latest improvements, even if you should choose to try out one of our competitors on your next visit.

“Very nice, pet friendly (very), excellent staff”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 January 2012

We had only planned on spending one night, but had such a good time we decided to stay another. The staff was very accommodating in getting us room for another night, offered to move all our belongings for us. Rooms are very clean, comfortable beds. Pool and hot tub/sauna area is large and very clean. We thoroughly enjoyed every detail of our stay. We will be returning again next year.

“Great for Dogs!!! Accommodating!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 January 2012

We traveled with another couple and the motel accommodatd our needs of adjoining rooms easily. Between us we had 3 full sized collies, and it was "no problem". Door to the outside on the ground floor were awesome, quiet, and within walking distance of all amenities. We actually stayed an extra nite! The pool, spa and sauna were a welcome surprise and very clean. Will definitely stay again, but longer!

Room Tip: Ground floor has individual outside doors, awesome!!!

“clean, good value hotel at entrance to Yellowstone”

I made a weekend winter trip to Yellowstone National Park for a snowcoach tour with Yellowstone Alpen Guides. Friends had stayed at the Kelly Inn, and I was pleased with the accommodation. Rates are less in winter than the summer high season. Every room had two queen beds, spotless, with microwave and fridge. My room faced north, and that evening outside a sled dog team bedded down for the night in the accompanying van. It was fun to look out and see the trainer feeding each dog after their day of running!

Breakfast is the usual complimentary cereal/bagel,juice. I never know why people complain about these forgettable breakfasts at hotels. They are free, and a bargain for families. There are always restaurants if you want to pay. Fortunately, there is a MacDonalds a few steps from the Kelly Inn, if you want to bring a burger and fries back for dinner. I opted for frozen Healthy Choice Steamers from the local market. Nice to be in the room and microwave a quick dinner.

A good place for the solo traveller, like myself, or for the family down to Yellowstone for a winter snowmobile or snowcoach tour. Remember this is winter, much of West Yellowstone town is quiet with some places closed. Streets covered with snow, lots of snowmobiles driving around town. Be sure to bring Yak Trax gripping slip- ons for your shoes, it is very icy.

Room Tip: upstairs room, north side looks to the town. There is an indoor pool and jacuzzi on main floor,also...

Thanks for coming all the way from Virginia to stay with us. That is a long way to go to see some snow but that is one thing we never run short of in West Yellowstone. Hope to see you again next season.
