Was fortunate to stay at the Laughing Horse Lodge during a late summer trip to Montana. From the moment I arrived I loved it (see your name on the board - check yourself in)!

Kathleen (inn owner & chef) runs this amazing little inn with non-stop precision. Catch her in the kitchen and have her whip you up some mushrooms with gorgonzola sauce - and, how do you like your eggs? She aims to please. Enjoyed her wry sense of humor too - she's authentic and fun.

Rooms were super comfy, grounds were beautiful with gardens and organic veggie/herb boxes. Dining under the canopies with a glass of wine and dinner after hiking - couldn't ask for more.

Traveled alone and felt wonderfully at home (even the parrot talks to you!) Met great folks from all over, loved the dogs, and with our good-natured ribbing, felt like Kathleen was an old friend I'd known for years.

Highly recommend the Laughing Horse, and sure hope to get out that way again. Thanks Kathleen, for sharing your home with us!

My wife and I found the Laughing Horse each separately and were telling each other about this place that has two Goldens as part of the B and B. Being on the road on a Harley for ten days we felt the need for some dog time since ours was back n Fl. We had a great time with both of the Golden and Cooper even spent the night in our Cabin. The dinner the night before was great and they even reopened the kitchen to accommodate our late arrival. breakfast was special and we were happy and full to continue our journey.

What a wonderful place for lodging and dinner. We stayed in a one bedroom 2 queen beds and the lodging is very comfortable. Kathleen has a beautiful garden which also includes fresh herbs. We enjoyed the 2 retrievers and sweet and shy Sampson the African Gray. We also had dinner at the Lodge and I would recommend the Veal short ribs. The following day, we were treated to a wonderful huckleberry pancakes and it came with bacon and eggs, coffee (wow!) and juice. Kathleen and her staff are very accommodating and friendly. My mother enjoyed her first experience in Montana at the Lodge. She is so excited that she will tell her friends in Seattle. We were there Fri. Sept. 23, 2011.

My wife and I escaped the Bitterroot for a few days and found LHL on Swan Lake. All the reviewers are spot on as it is truly a grand place....funky little rooms and just over the top dinning. I screwed up and only made reservations for dinner but when we arrived Kathleen spun her magic and we got our room also. Great dogs and conversations with other guests. I would say go soon before she gets tired of being friendly :) Cold Smoke on draft. Go visit Joey and Jocelyn at the grocery store down the road for added local flavor. Don't miss the mile marker #71.
