The main lodge where we stayed was reminiscent of something from the late 1800's. You expect the stage coach to pull up at any time ! The walls are covered with historical clutter, but it all works in a very charming, floor creaking way. The lodge rooms have various pieces of antique furniture and metal frame beds. The bathrooms are down the hall, so it was not unusual to see guests in night dress or bathrobes going to and fro. There seem to be enough that I never had to wait to have access. With the high utilization, I think they need to do a better job of keeping them clean. The bathmat on the floor was dirty and there were used towels and empty shampoo bottles sitting around.
The lodge seemed run down, but the rates were reasonable and the restaurant was very good. Kudos to the helpful, friendly staff. There is free wi-fi in the lobby and you can ask to borrow a hairdryer from the front desk. It was a kick to soak in the huge warm springs hot tub after a tiring day.
