The reviews sounded okay, so we decided to spend our 2nd night in Missoula at Goldsmith's since The Gibson Mansion only had availability for us for one night. Talk about 2 extremes! We went from pure luxury at The Gibson to "anything but" at Goldsmith's. Had we known, we'd have taken a motel room, saved a lot of money, and had a much nicer room! We paid only $10 less than at The Gibson and it wasn't worth anywhere near the $154 with tax that we paid! Breakfast was good, not a lot of it, but with what I'd consider a $60 room, that made for a really expensive breakfast. It sits right next to a bike shop and businesses, so we were a little hesitant about leaving our car there all night, although it was okay. I certainly would not stay in the Bear Grass Suite and I don't know what the other rooms were like. You can tell the owners don't live "on-site" as there's no pride in the upkeep! Personally, if you can't afford The Gibson Mansion, take a motel.

At Goldsmith's Bed and Breakfast we constantly strive to provide a memorable travel experience for our guests. It is clear that the guest that wrote this negative review had some serious problems with their experience at Goldsmith's but unfortunately they did not mention any specific problems with their room or their breakfast. Had they contacted me at the time of their stay I would have made every effort to satisfy their needs. This guest did not enjoy the Beargrass Suite but I do not know specifically what was wrong so I do not know how to rectify the situation. We take guest comments personally and we respond immediately to complaints. Contrary to what this reviewer states I DO TAKE pride of ownership in our property which is a landmark 1911 craftsman home. It is impossible to survive in small business if an owner does NOT show pride of ownership. We are inspected annually by AAA and have received a 3 Diamond rating for the last 18 years. That puts us in the same category as the Doubletree Hotel and the Hilton Garden Inn which are 2 of the finest lodging properties in Missoula. I am truly sorry that this guest did not enjoy their stay with us.
