I guess that "quality" is kind of relative in nature; it depends upon the location, the place, and the potential clientele. Missoula is very much a university town and, in my experience, such places are always more expensive. Having read the writeups on the MVI, we booked immediately but were somewhat disappointed with the overall experience. I think "marginal quality" would be the best descriptor of the place, given the largely-glowing reports from this site and what we'd expected. The location is, in fact, fairly close to downtown but it is also, as a result, quite noisey. We'd thought that, getting a room on the back of the complex, the stay would be quieter but hadn't counted on the nearby hospital with the ambulances coming and going at all hours, in addition to a helicopter ambulance roaring overhead for some time. The room itself was gloomy, more-or-less clean but, again, very basic in every way. There was covered parking, however and a basic breakfast provided but I have to think that, if you wanted good access to the airport, as we did, you'd likely be better off booking something nearer. For $20 or so more, I'm confident that you'd get a much better deal. In summary, I would disagree with most of the glowing reports I've read here but, in fairness, maybe the MVI does provide the best "bang for the buck" in a university town such as Missoula. But I won't be going back.
