This Sanders was one of the most beautiful, historic places I have stayed. Bobbi and Rock were so helpful and welcoming. They were both so kind and made the stay in Helena so much more enjoyable. The beds were very comfortable and the breakfasts were fantastic! We hope to stay in at The Sanders again one day.

This is one of the better B & B experiences we have had, and we've stayed at a number over the years. The home is a large historic mansion in a quiet residential district full of other beautiful old homes. Our room was the Sanders Suite, which features an impressive collection of circus related items and decor, and has a huge bathroom with both a tub and walk in shower. The bedroom didn't provide a great deal of space to put luggage, so we did find ourselves tripping over our stuff at times, but it's a minor complaint. The host and hostess could not have been more welcoming and helpful, and the breakfast was terrific. If living, eating and sleeping on museum quality furniture and artifacts makes you nervous, this is not the place for you, but for us it was a memorable and enjoyable experience. For those like us who are tech-oriented, there are plenty of outlets and free Wifi.

My wife and I stayed here in July 2011 at the suggestion of some friends that we were visiting. The Sanders was the first B&B in Helena. The entire house has been painstakingly restored with beautiful wood detailing on the interior. The building is on the Register of Historic Places as are many other restored residences in the city.

All of the rooms are beautifully decorated, the bed was very comfortable, and the bathroom was nicely done. The breakfast was also good. The B&B is located in a lovely, tree lined residential neighborhood close to downtown Helena.

What makes the Sanders especially nice are the proprietors Bobbi and Rock who sit with you at breakfast, when not serving you themselves. Rock has a career in running a land conservation trust, and Bobbi runs the B&B. They both are very friendly people and good conversationalists. When we were there, we had the additional pleasure of meeting one of Rock's childhood friends, who works at Carroll College in Helena and visits sometimes in the breakfast hour to take part in the conversation

We also really enjoyed the other guests that were staying there. We met a fascinating group from England and a couple from Baltimore, and the conversation was lively. The latter used to live in Atlanta, our home, and we found that we had many experiences and acquaintances in common.

When we return to Helen, there is no question that we will stay there. This is a quality place.

When planning a trip I like to work in a B&B about once a week. Although my husband usually prefers impersonal hotels, he was delighted with The Sanders and its charming hostess. Guests are greeted with a cold drink (or wine) on arrival along with freshly baked cookies. The breakfast is a total indulgence. We had cream cheese french toast, fresh fruit, coffee, and juice. The mansion was built in 1875 for one of Montana's first US senators. The woodwork is wonderful, as is the decor--totally period. The home is a block from the restored first governor's mansion (open for tours) and convenient to downtown and restaurants.
