“Enjoyable Visit”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 September 2011

We chose to stay at Rising Sun Motor Inn after we were unable to get a reservation at Many Glacier Hotel. I had to reserve two rooms for my family of five because the rooms have double beds. Our rooms were next to each other but not adjoining. We found that we liked the location for touring the East side of Glacier National Park, including Many Glacier. The rooms were spotless and the desk staff pleasant. We would definitely consider staying at Rising Sun again.

“Boy, did we get lucky!”

After two terrible nights in the Motor Lodge at Lake MacDonald, we got the helpful desk clerk to help us switch our last night to the only vacancy in Rising Sun. What a stroke of luck. We drove from a whitewater trip in West Glacier to Rising Sun, cutting a lot off our trip for the next day, back to Banff. We expected and needed little more than a bed for the 11 hours we were there, but it was better than expected. Room 11 has a panoramic view of the mountains - at least it did until the rain clouds lowered, but that is Mother Nature's fault. The room was clean and comfortable, and the front desk clerk was helpful, pleasant and efficient. We really don't ask for more as a rule.
We had not previously considered Rising Sun for lodging, but it is ideally situated for touring the east end of Glacier, St. Mary, Browning, and even Many Glacier. I think The Canadian border took us less than an hour (Hard to say for sure since we stopped at Swiftcurrent to watch early morning bears and to catch breakfast.

Room Tip: Book early! We got lucky. Don't count on luck!

“comfortable stay”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 September 2011

We couldn't get a reservation at the Many Glacier Lodge, but found our stay here to work out just fine for one night. Traveling with 2 teens, we ended up having to reserve 2 rooms because they only had rooms with 2 twins. This was an extra expense we could have done without. The rooms are clean and comfortable. That night it was incredibly windy and scary, and since our rooms were not adjacent - which it would have made sense for them to reserve that for us (!!!), my husband and I each stayed with one of our kids. Not ideal, but for one night, it was fine.

Thank you for taking your time to interact with us on TripAdvisor. I am going to pass this comment on to our management team in order to improve our service. Usually our call center employees would catch a glitch like that, but maybe there were not any rooms available together, or it is possible that you booked your stay through a separate agency. Either way, I should point out that all of our rooms book up months in advance, so it is important to reserve at least 6 months previous in order to guarantee a room of choice.

“Pleasant Stay at the Inn”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 24 August 2011

Our family of four stayed one night at one of the three blocks of Inn rooms. Each room has chair/table on the porch which is good for airing out our hiking boots, drying socks, etc. We had a view of the mountains across the GTTS road. Large, immaculately clean bathroom with good lighting and nice toiletries. Squeaky beds but very nice linens. Close to Rising Sun Campground where we attended a Ranger evening talk which was very interesting and fun for us to see how other people experience the park. We ate at Two Dog Flats several times, a nice restaurant in the building where you check in for the property. Coming from the east, this (and the campstore) is the last place to get food as you head across the GTTS road.

“Horrible tiny and smelly 1940's cabins at 21st century prices.”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 23 August 2011 via mobile

Old unfinished cabins, shower small as a coffin, tiny beds, smelly stained carpet (urine?) bathroom swarming with ants (they did come to spray when I complained, thus creating ongoing dead insect carcass situation on floor), no surface area for suitcases or toiletries(mini-wall sink in sleeping area). Really should have been torn down years ago. AVOID if possible.
