If just one person or family takes this review to heart and goes up the street to the Ramada or Holiday Inn instead, then this review will be worth it. It would be even better if the Motel 6 Business Office sees this, and conducts an internal investigation into the lackluster performance of one of their motels...and hopefully terminates the entire staff of this motel.
Like many of you, I never had a problem with Motel 6. In fact, I had stayed at this particular one in Billings, MT, some years ago.
On this latest trip, I made our reservations online for five people...myself, my mom, and my three nephews.
Make a note of that number...5 people in my party. It will figure prominently in my dissection of this "motel", and why you need to stay somewhere else.
We get to Billings, make our way to the motel, and proceed to check in. I confirm to the front desk lackey that I made online reservations, that there are five people in our party, and we'd like as large a room as possible.
Unbeknownst to me, this particular Motel 6 didn't start it's life as one...it was an acquisition from some years ago. You only get one size of room...too small for any party over two. Well, we're tired and hungry, so we get our room key, unload all of our stuff, and immediately discover (aside from the room being too small), the toilet doesn't work.
I go down to the front desk to complain that the room is too small for five people, the toilet's backed up, and what happened to our large room?
The front desk's response?
"If we had we known there were five people in your group, we would never have taken your reservation in the first place."
They were told NO LESS THAN THREE TIMES the size of our party, yet they had the gall to say, "If we had known..."? I've worked in customer service for many years...the one thing you DO NOT tell a customer is that you don't want their business.
They never even addressed the toilet issue, basically telling us that it was too bad for us, and we could suffer without it.
I immediately cancelled my next few online Motel 6 reservations, and booked our remaining stays at Ramada Inns across the country.
It's been over a year, and I am still waiting for my refund. It will be cold day in Hell before I ever stay at the Billings Motel 6 again.
I would highly recommend that if you're considering staying at a motel in or around Billings, spend a little more money on one of the other motels, like Ramada, or Holiday Inn, or Best Western...anything but Motel 6. They don't want your business.
