“Clean, contemporary, great staff ...BUT...”

We decided to stay at the Hampton Inn, when we arrived in Billings. Our first choice, the Best Western, happened to be sold out of the King beds so the Hampton was the closest and most convenient to where we needed to be in the morning for a business meeting.
The hotel prices were average, around $100/night for our midweek, January stay. The lobby was warm and inviting and during our stay the staff was very friendly. The room was clean and adequately furnished with contemporary style furniture. Our buffet style breakfast was a very nice surprise, there were cheese omelets and bacon that morning, along with the usual make-your-own waffles, fruit, cereal and pastry selections. We didn't avail ourselves of the pool but it seemed to be adequate for a traveling family.

The biggest disappointment was the location of our room. I laid awake listing to the trucks on the interstate from 1:30 in the morning until it was time for our wake-up call at 6:00 a.m. It was the worst hotel sleep I've ever had in my life in spite of the very comfortable bed, great pillows and my earplugs. The Interstate was 100 yards away. (you can check this on any mapping program).

Just a huge warning to anyone thinking of staying here. I would definitely book this hotel again; but only if I could stay on the north side of the building.

“Nice room, a bit short on amenities”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 23 January 2012

The room was large and clean and the Hotel staff was very friendly and helpful. The exercise facility was lacking; just one treadmill, one elliptical and one bike, but that seems to be the case with most Hampton Inns. I travel a lot and the only minus for me was they did not have a microwave or refrigerator in the room. They did provide a microwave on request, but it had to sit on the coffee table which was a bit inconvenient. . In the evenings they had hot soup with crackers and fresh fruit which was a nice homey touch., and they do have an indoor pool.

“clean but noisy room”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 23 December 2011

Very clean and comfortable room except for the I-94 traffic noise. The room 421 was at the I 94 end of the hotel and lacked soundproofing.

Room Tip: if you need quiet avoid avoid the south side where the room numbers ending around 20 are, especially...

“A Little Problem and a Great Customer Service Save”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 September 2011

I stayed at this property twice in one week while in the region on business. Each time I was sold a king room for $125 per night. Reservations were made via the HHonors web site.

The property is located in a light industrial area adjacent to the interstate. It appears to be a first generation Hampton property that had a large addition added to it in recent years. The exterior was clean and in good repair. Parking lot lighting exceeded expectations.

Check-in for both stays were quick affairs. I utilized the e-check in option and was welcomed as a HHonors Gold member. This touch is spotty at some properties.

During the first stay I was assigned a room facing the interstate. It was certainly noisier than I would have preferred. The room was clean and bedding/amenities were typical for the Hampton brand.

During the second stay I was assigned a room facing away from the interstate. While quieter than the first, the air conditioner simply didn't work. Within minutes of my call to the front desk a clerk was there to deliver a key card to another room. She walked with me to the next room to make certain that everything was in good working order. This was a nice touch and reflected a higher level of commitment to customer service than one would expect at this price point.

Breakfast during each stay was typical for the Hampton brand. The area was clean, well stocked and breakfast staff were polite and helpful.

Check-out during both stays was a quick affair. During the last stay I departed very early for a 5:45 AM flight. The desk clerk quickly filled a "to-go" bag for me even though the breakfast start time was still 90 minutes away. Again, great service.

I don't travel to the west very much, but given the opportunity, I would not hesitate to stay at this property again.

Room Tip: Make certain your assigned room faces away from the interstate,

“Consistent and Clean”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 22 August 2011

I stay here roughly every 5-6 weeks for a night. It's a little challenging to get to the first time, but it's not far from the highway and major services. Rooms and lobby are consistent with what you expect from a Hampton- clean, quiet, consistent. Pool and spa is viewable from the lobby/breakfast area. Will keep returning.
