“Our 4th Stay, and Still as GREAT as Ever!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 February 2012

people found this review helpful

We stayed at The Lodge at Big Sky for our 4th time this past January 26-February 5, and it was as good as ever! Because of the wonderful lodge and excellent staff, we visited this past summer, and will come back once again this coming summer. Therefore, we have made this a bi-yearly trip, and would not think of staying anywhere else!!!

From the time you arrive, Jeff and Ryan (Managers) make your stay enjoyable, and get to know you on a personal level. Every guest is called by name, and greeted by all members of the staff, who make you feel like you are a part of their family.

Weekly, there is an event hosted in the spacious lobby called, "Grillin' and Chillin'," where Jeff cooks out on the grill, and you have a buffet-style feast with the other hotel guests socializing in the lobby/lounge area. Even if you're not a "social" person, this is truly an event you can enjoy in a laid-back atmosphere that is friendly of everyone, and is a family event! From the continental breakfast with egg/cheese omelets and sausage, to the nacho cheese machine at night, you never go hungry! Although the hotel doesn't offer "room service," there is always food and fun provided.

We saved a lot of money by utilizing the induction cook top, oversize refrigerator, convection microwave oven, and a dishwasher with dishes provided...and of course, a trip to Wal-Mart before we headed into Big Sky.

The indoor pool and hot tub, as well as the outdoor hot tubs were a great way to wind down and relax after a hard day skiing, and were always the perfect temperature.

Lone Peak and skiing in Big Sky is fantastic, but we would not be as eager to return to Montana were it not for The Lodge at Big Sky. It is truly a hidden treasure, and we will continue to return as often as we are able to. Thanks to them for making our trip so memorable every time we visit!

Room Tip: Get a mountain view suite so that you have a kitchenette to cook some of your own meals.

“Fine Hotel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 February 2012

Stayed at the Lodge the week Jan 21 thru 27 2012. The service is very good. Although Base Camp and Restaurants are just a short walk, just ask and you will be there in no time. Nightly in-house food specialties and the continental breakfast is good. Can ski in just outside the lobby on snowy days or ski to the tennis courts and walk a few steps. 4 Hot tubs and a swimming pool. Very friendly family atmosphere. Highly recommend.

“Big Sky is Big Air!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 January 2012

I would like to start by saying how amazing Big Sky Ski Resort is. The runs are wide, vast and steep! I've skied and snowboarded all over the world and Big Sky is as good as it gets. No lifts lines and Lone Peak is an amazing site as well as an amazing peak to ski down! The only thing that can use some improvement is the village which is very small. This leads me into the hotels in the area. I had a chance to price most of them and visit most of them while I was there. The Summit and the Huntley are probably the best facilities but are overpriced. For about a third of the price, I had the opportunity to stay at "The Lodge at Big Sky," which was not as extravagant but almost a close as the other two. Only a block away from the Huntly and within a 3 minute walk of the ski lifts and shops/restaurants! The rooms are quite large, with ceiling that are so high you could jump on the bed and still not touch the ceiling...not that I tried... :) They are well maintained and good view out the window as well. The gym is a bit small but who really works out on vacation. The light breakfast includes simple toast, bagels and muffins but it's free! The highlight is the proximity to the lifts and the great attitude shared by the entire staff! They were all very friendly and answered questions with a smile! You won't need a car since you can walk to the lifts and there are plenty of tour groups whisking people up to Yellowstone which is about and hour away. Thank you "Lodge at Big Sky," you guys rock!

“Excellent value and beautiful location”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 17 January 2012

I found a good discount special for the Lodge on expedia.com and decided to book a room for a few nights as it was the cheapest accommodation available from which I could explore West Yellowstone and the surrounding area. We stayed here during the summer season, which I assume is off-season; this is probably one of the reasons why the room was so cheap. It was only about $20 more than budget accommodation for a very nice place. The lounge area was lovely and offered a great view of the mountain. The room itself was large with two Queen sized beds (one more bed than what I was after but I won't complain). Cleaning was done daily and the staff were helpful and informative when I asked about the area. The complementary breakfasts were also a cut above what I am used to (quite a bit more than just toast, cereal and coffee). The location is also excellent, very scenic. Although, it was a bit of a drive to Yellowstone, about an hour to the west gate, I did not find it too daunting. Overall, highly recommended.

“Last Minute Deal”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 January 2012

We switched up our summer itinerary on the road and Pricelined a great deal at this hotel for one night. The highlight for our kids was the ping-pong table in the basement, where we spent an entire evening while I was doing vacation laundry down the hall. The pool and hot tub seemed highly over-chemicalled (not a word, I know) but the kids seemed fine. The hotel was not super-crowded though the free breakfast buffet was like a Lollapolloza the next day, with long lines and no where to sit. Mini-fridges in all the rooms made traveling with our cooler and snacks easy. This was a good base from which to spend 2 days in Big Sky in the summer.
