“Suited us perfectly, very happy”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 21 July 2010

We have been staying here for a week and still here as I write this. It has been perfect for us. We are new to Springfield looking to settle and found this to be easily accessible to everywhere we need to go and easy to get to.

Our room is great! It has a little kitchenette with a full sized fridge with freezer so we have prepared some meals here. There is a microwave oven and two stove top elements. No oven as such. They provide basic cutlery and a pan and pot.

In our room we have two tables with lamps - great to set up the laptops. The bed is very comfortable. We have air conditioning in the room so its very comfortable with the high 90 temperatures we've been having here. We have a tv, iron and ironing board. Its well set up. There is also a lazy-boy style couch in here also.

The laundry is expensive. The washers are small ones so we've had to do two loads each time to fit everything in and each load is $2. The dryer is also $2.

You dont get room service every day here - its once a week but you are allowed to take your towels down whenever you want to front desk and they will swap them for new ones for you. You pay $5 for internet which covers your entire stay.

Scenery wise theres nothing here if thats what you want then this probably isn't for you. Our room looks out on the University Of Phoenix. I imagine other rooms just look out onto highway 60. Being near the highway we didn't hear any of the traffic noise in our room at all.

This fit our needs very well and I'd definitely stay here again or recommend it to anyone. We got a great price also through hotels.com.

“Don't expect too much.”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 24 January 2010

For the price of this hotel, it wasn't too terrible- the rooms were clean, and there was a small kitchen area in case you wanted to make your own food. We stayed for 1 night and spent most of the night our in Springfield, so we weren't in the room too much. The bed was not comfortable, however, which made sleeping a little difficult- it squeaked every time we moved, and was very hard. Plus, you have to walk down to the front desk to get a hairdryer and shampoo, and cleaning service is only included in your rate if you stay for more than 7 nights unless you paid an extra fee. Since we only stayed one night this wasn't an issue for us, but it would be pretty disappointing to have to replace your own towels and not have your room straightened at all. If you just need a cheap room for the night, and don't care about a comfortable bed, then this hotel really isn't too bad. But it's definitely not a luxury hotel.

“Worst Bed Ever”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 August 2008

This hotel looks fine from the outside, is in a pretty good location, the staff are friendly and helpful, and on first-glance the room (though not exactly well-decorated) seemed OK - clean and tidy at least. The rooms are utilitarian - small kitchen area, small bathroom, bed, desk, single reclining chair, and small TV.

While I would praise the staff for being friendly and helpful, I do not ever want to return to this hotel. The bed is the most uncomfortable thing I have ever slept on. I think I'd prefer sleeping on hard ground while camping - at least then you wouldn't expect anything close to comfort!

The bed was so hard that neither my husband or I could get comfortable on it, so we both tossed & turned (and neither of us is usually picky about mattresses). It also creaked horribly whenever we tried to roll over, making it basically impossible to both sleep at the same time. Half way thru the night, I got up and slept in the recliner, which was actually more comfortable than the bed.

I'd like to find something good about the hotel, but really -- you're stopping at a hotel because you need to sleep -- and that's something you'd have a hard time doing here.

“clean, simple room”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 26 March 2008

I was on an overnight trip in Springfield with three friends. We just needed a place to crash after a busy day. That is exactly what we got at this hotel. It is a clean, simple, and very relaxed environment. When we checked in, first they gave us a smoking room. But when we requested a change, they were happy to oblige us. The room was actually a handicap-accessible room, so it was very roomy...which was nice when four girls were trying to do thier hair and make-up the next morning.

Maybe I'm a bit spoiled, but the bed was not very comfortable. Quite hard. But the sheets were clean, so we were content.

Hotel is in a great location right off of HWY 60. Several fast-food and nicer restaurants right there. There is a grocery store a block away for those who want to take advantage of the kitchenette rooms.

“Please replace your beds, Extended Stay!”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 November 2007

I've stayed at ExtendedStay hotels in 4 or 5 different cities, always thru Priceline.com. They're usually pretty decent, and have kitchen facilities, which is nice. Inevitably, though, they have incredibly hard & uncomfortable beds/mattresses. Absolutely the hardest and worst beds of any chain that I've ever stayed at.

The one in Springfield has the same problem. Additionally, I had to wait 10-15 minutes to get any service at the front desk, despite ringing the bell. This was at 8 p.m. on a Thursday night, not in the middle of the night or anything.

Finally, I noticed some mud in the elevator that night, which was still there the following morning around 9 a.m. So housekeeping definitely gets a failing grade, in this visit.

Overall, ExtendedStay is not a bad chain--it's affordable, usually clean, and normally the staff is pleasant enough. But if you stay there, plan on an uncomfortable beds and not the best night of sleep. Maybe if enough of us complain to the hotel......
