“Get your kicks, on Route 66!”

Clean! Clean! Clean! I have stayed here multiple times over the years and the place just gets better a. nd better each time. You can't beat the charm of this place. It's just a classic motel.

Rooms have been completely modernized with all new furniture, beds, carpet, flat screen, the works. Parking lot looks like fresh asphalt. I just cant give this place enough props. My rate was $70.00 with my discount. Beds were comfy, the heater worked like a champ and the breakfast. Good golly, man!! I was expecting the usual lame continental. Cereal, bagels, banannas, biscuits and gravy, juice, great coffee, pastries......really good, really fresh....really impressive. Staff were friendly, fast and helpful. Location is good for MO State. We were in town to watch Da Bears! play Oklahoma State. Last time we were in Springfield we made the mistake of staying on the other side of town and paid $100.00 for a dump with seedy people. I'll never pass up the Rail Haven again. Keep up the great work!

First of all, I love the username! It sounds like your traveling experiences (at least so far) have gone a little more smoothly than those of the Griswalds.

Thanks so much for the thorough review. Cleanliness, price, and breakfast are usually the top three things people inquire about when booking a reservation, so hopefully a lot of people will get to read about your stay. We look forward to seeing you again (as long as you don't bring cousin Eddie or Aunt Edna with you). ;) Cheers.

“Charming & Convenient Motel in Springfield”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 19 November 2011

This is a historic property, and on the exterior retains much of the charm of a bygone era. On the inside, the rooms have been updated to meet modern standards. Although a tad on the small side, the rooms are well appointed, clean and comfortable. Just what we would expect from Best Western. Best of all the location is a quick 5 minute cab ride from the restaurants, clubs and bars downtown. Jason at the front test was very welcoming & helped us with restaurant and bar recommendations. He even arranged for a cab to pick us up. The Route 66 Rail Haven is definitely the place to stay when visiting Springfield and we hope to visit again soon.

Jon N:

Thank you for the amazing rating! Sounds like your stay went well, and I am glad to hear it. Our hotel was built in 1938 and was, at that time, a series of cottages. Like most other motorcourts from that era, many of our cottages had carports built along side them. When we began renovating the property many years later, these individual cottages and carports were all connected into a few very long buildings as it stands today. A handful of the rooms we rent out are just big enough to park a 50s style automobile inside (if there was no furniture, that is), because these rooms used to be carports! You couldn't tell by looking at them now, of course, because they have all been well refurbished. We have a variety of room types and sizes available, so next time you visit, I would be happy to see about finding a bigger one for you. Until then, thanks again for the review!

“Reminder of a bygone era”

I stayed here one night on a drive from Chicago to Houston. As a single woman traveling alone, I tend to be very careful choosing my accommodations. This one was absolutely perfect for my purposes. As you drive in, you see that the building is quaint, with fresh paint and a collection of antique signs from years past. My room was spotless. The bathroom towels were folded as nicely as any 5-star hotel I've stayed in, which is an impressive touch. My dog was traveling with me, so having a room with a door that opens to my parking place was so convenient. I felt safe, and was able to walk my dog through a residential neighborhood behind the hotel. The bed was comfortable, the sheets were clean, and there was a refrigerator - another nice convenience. The breakfast was nice, and the staff was friendly. You have to ask for a AAA discount (or whatever kind of discount you want to try to use) as they don't offer it when they quote the price. But the rate was dirt cheap ($71.00, which included a $10 pet fee) compared to anywhere else I stayed on my road trip. I would recommend this hotel to anyone who needs a nice, cozy place to stay in Springfield, MO.

Karen360:

Thank you telling us about your stay. I'm glad you felt safe at our property. That is one question a lot of people have before booking reservations in an unfamiliar place: How safe is it? We have at least one desk clerk on staff 24 hours a day and a private security company that patrols the area every evening (although we almost never need to contact them for anything but noise complaints, and even those are extremely rare because our walls are well-insulated). Since you mentioned cleanliness, I would just like to add that we have recently transitioned into Best Western's "I Care 2" program meaning (among other things) we are now inspected every three months and held to "ultra clean" standards. We added ultraviolet sanitizing wands to our cleaning arsenal, and have begun focusing on high-touch areas like TV remotes, door handles, telephones, light switches, etc. to combat the spread of germs. Thanks again for taking the time to review and rate our hotel. We hope to see you again.

“Historical, clean, and quaint hotel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 November 2011

For starters: get a room with a jacuzzi -- it is so worth it! I did not have one complaint with my room: it was clean, historic with the 1960s art, spacious (enough), comfortable bed, and the jacuzzi was wonderful after a cold November day. The staff was super friendly and the continental breakfast was good. I will definitely stay here again. HELPFUL HINT: we were quoted $99.00 as the cheapest we could get the room per night by the front desk. We found a lower rate of $71.00 online. Look around online or ask for a lower rate before paying full price.

Room Tip: Look online for the cheapest room rate.

Cre8ivegals8282:

Thank you for the awesome rating and review. It is a cold November day today as well, and I must admit that a jacuzzi does sound wonderful! I'm happy to hear that your stay went well and that you plan to return. If I may expand on your "helpful hint," I would just like to add that it is important to pay close attention when booking through 3rd party websites. There are some good deals out there, for sure, but some websites offer substantial discounts only because they are reserving a "run of the house" room for you. This means you are guaranteed a room, but no specific room type (in such situations, they usually reserve the hotel's cheapest room and add that the customer requests such-and-such room type if it is available and if the hotel wishes to upgrade the guest). Be sure and read the fine print before booking this way or you could end up with a less suitable room than what you had hoped to reserve. Of course, you are always welcome to contact us directly and discuss any 3rd party/promotional rates you might find online. Thanks again. Hope to see you soon.

“Nice place....”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 October 2011

Stayed here for just an over night October 14th after along flight. The place is very nice and the whirlepool tub was really great. The room was clean and the staff helpful. You kind of drift off in the 1960's staying there. I know the wife liked the place as she said next time we are in town we will stay agian (that don't happen much). Wish the pool had been open the weather was great for a swim, about 48 degrees, and also wish the free breakfast was a little bigger but the B&G over biscuts was good.
