“Very dirty room!”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 August 2009

I traveled with my young son and got in late. We seen the cheap rate and my son liked the idea of a large LCD TV. I was dead tired and just needed to crash for the night. The price was $79 compared to the $30 price listed on their banner. There was no LCD TV. Also I never had a choice of room as the night clerk said that there was one room left and it was smoking. (I do not smoke.) I took the room due to extreme tiredness. The room absolutely reaked of smoke. The blankets had cigarette burns all over them as well as the floor. My son checked the microwave and found moldy fries inside. I told him that we were only going to sleep and then get the heck out early in the morning. I was awakened by some drunks pounding on my door at 2:30 in the morning only to find my son asleep on the recliner. (The nasty looking blankets scared him.) The next morning we were going to grab a cup of milk to go in the lobby. It was a new gallon of milk, not on ice. Turned out the milk was sour!! Do yourself a favor and look elsewhere.

“Should have slept in my car”

I saw the sign on this hotel stating all the amenities like "32in LCD TV", free Internet in every room, and $35 rate for one person, so I thought I'd try it. The front desk clerk flung a card onto the counter and simply grunted "fill it out", then asked for my money. Had I not been so tired, I would have gone to try the Super 8. But I just thought it was the standard Indian "business etiquette" that I've come to love in most cheap hotels now. I asked if this is for the room advertised on the banners and sign outside. Should have been more specific.

Well, the room was tiny, no LCD TV of course, and had plenty of noise coming in from both the hallway and the road that runs behind the hotel. I asked at the front desk why there was no LCD TV, and he said "that's for another room, but you don't want to pay that much". Kind of a strange way to say it, but fair enough. So I asked if there was a quieter room on the front side of the building, or anywhere for that matter. He said, "that room is not noisy, and the rooms on the front side are not available." Which I thought strange, seeing the empty parking lot. Very rude. These walls must be made of paper, because I can hear every conversation in the halls, nearby rooms, and outside my window.

Hotel looks okay from the outside, but AVOID AT ALL COSTS!! Very disappointed. Would have been better off sleeping in my car. And this is yet another hotel worker who is in serious needs of etiquette lessons.

“Manager is a crook”

After booking a reservation on line and traveling over 2 hours with my son to participate in a baseball tournament, I arrived in Sikeston very late and tired on a Friday night. When I entered the lobby with my confirmation number in hand the manager very rudely approached me and asked me what I wanted. I told him I had a reservation for the night and showed him my confirmation number. Without even looking at the paper he very rudely told me "I have no reservation for you!" I thought he misunderstood me so I tried to explain to him that the reservation was already made and he already had my credit card number and a deposit. Before I could finish my sentence he once again, but even more rudely told me "I Have No Reservation For You, If you want to stay you will pay full price" and quoted me a price nearly $20 more than my confirmation amount. At this point I called Expedia.com and explained the situation. They apologized, put me on hold and called the hotel. The representative switched back to me and informed me that the hotel manager was also rude to her and proceeded to hang up on her.
Having to find a hotel at 10:00 that night in a horrible rainstorm was the icing on the cake.
VERY UNHAPPY ! !

“Finger served at Continental Breakfast”

We stayed here one night on our way to Florida. The room was adequate but the staff left a lot to be desired. They acted like they were doing you a favor by letting you stay there.

In an attempt to figure out how the coffee carafe worked in the Lobby I asked the manager. The lid was off of it, and the pot seemed cold. He grabbed a foam cup, poured a half cup of coffee, stuck his finger in it and waved it in front of me yelling ..."see it's not cold!" If it had been hot, he wouldn't have been able to do such a graphic demonstration.

On the return trip home we stayed at the Day's Inn in Sikeston. It was a much better experience and more reasonably priced than Country Hearth. After we checked into our room at the Day's Inn, the front desk even called to see if everything was satisfactory and did we need anything?

“What a dump”

My husband and I stayed here for one night while on our way to Arkansas from Wisconsin. Clearly this was a hotel that had seen better days.

The room size was adequate, but it was a little small for the bed. I had to walk sideways against the wall to get to my side.

Either there was a towel shortage that day, or they were stingey (you decide) and yes, they had in-room coffee - one bag of decaf. We couldn't WAIT to check out.

Funny thing though, the guy who checked us in the night before at 8:00 PM was the same one who checked us out at 4:00 AM. Small staff??

Anyway, if given the choice, I would NOT stay here again.
