“Cheap alternative to Motel 6”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 19 November 2011

Drury Inns offers this inexpensive alternative to their "Pear Tree" or "Drury Inn & Suites" properties. This place is convenient for a quick night's rest - outside doors make it easy in/ easy out. Concrete constructions means it is quiet! Unlike motel 6, the rate was the same for 2 people. ($39). Amazingly, it includes hot breakfast over at the neighboring Pear Tree Inn. Overall a great value.

Room Tip: The 3rd floor offers the lowest rates, I guess people are willing to pay more to be on the ground le...

“Inexpensive motel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 July 2011

For a one night stop it was a great place, it is three stories and no elevator but the higher up you go the cheaper the rate of the room (if you are willing to carry your stuff up stairs). It is part of the Drury line of hotels, in the same is parking lot is Drury hotel, Pear Tree inn and Thrify and that is also the order of most expensive to least. Would definately stay here again.

“Will Book Next Vacation with Drury (Thrifty Inn)”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 20 June 2010

I recently drove to New Orleans and back to Wisconsin with my three teens. We booked at another chain in New Orleans, and I truly wish we had known about Drury Inn and Thrifty Inn earlier. I would have booked the entire five days in New Orleans.

We found out about Thrifty Inn from a road sign on the way back to Wisconsin, in Missouri. It listed three prices. Apparently, if you are willing to climb to the third floor, you get the cheapest rate. I had three kids to help, and we strategically planned which bags had to be taken in. In our case, we also had diabetic equipment for my 16-year-old daughter. Still the three flights up was not a problem PLUS our room was right at the top of the steps.

This place was quiet, clean as a whistle, conveniently located.

We had access to the main hotel, which was the Drury Inn in another building very close by. We had access to free beer for myself, a swimming pool, hot tub and a WONDERFUL CONTINENTAL BREAKFAST. I have stayed in many hotels, and this was the most awesome breakfast I have ever seen, biscuits and gravy, suasage, waffles, coffee, soda, juice, toast, fresh fruit...way more than normal.

This place has no drawbacks. I only wish I had known of it earlier. It would have saved us from staying in a dump for five days in New Orleans.

“New Years Eve 2009”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 January 2010

We stayed at the Thrifty Inn on 12/31/09. We stayed due to price, and the fact that they had an indoor pool. The room was on the third floor so we had the cheapest room, and the room itself was much nicer than expected, it was clean, and up to date with the look...or as well as any other motel I have ever seen. The down side to the room was the electrical sucked...the light in the bathroom didn't stay on and several of the other lights seemed to have a mind of thier own. I never did complain to the front desk, I am sure it would have been fixed, the staff was very nice. We thought being that the entrance to our room was outside, and the pool was in the other motel was going to be cold since it was in the 20's that night, but actually wasn't bad. The breakfast was just like any other Drury...the best!!!! I would stay again. For the price and the adminities this was a steal!

“Very nice and accomodating”

We stayed here overnight during a trip to Memphis. It was a bit confusing when making the reservation, if we were staying at Pear Tree Inn or Thrifty Inn. And our Expedia reservation said Pear Tree Inn- Thrifty Inn. Then when we pulled in, there were two buildings, one with each name in the same lot. However, the Thrifty Inn building had a sign that said "Check in at Pear Tree Inn". We went to Pear Tree Inn to check in and were given a room in that building. Our room was clean and spacious enough. The bathroom was very clean, the tile even seemed to shine. For the purpse of our stay, this was the perfect hotel. We could have drove straight through but wanted to give the kids a chance to play in a pool and rest a bit, since they really like hotels.
The lobby had free softdrinks and popcorn till 9:00pm. And both of us adults were given a ticket for 3 free drinks (wine or beer). It wasnt the best wine, but it was nice. We were the only ones in the pool. It was warm enough for even me and I am pretty picky (stick to the hot tub most places). About 10 min after we entered the pool, the manager came in and told us he had turned it up and the water was reading at 84 degrees. It was an inside/outside pool and we could swim under the divider and actually swim outside. The kids thought this was pretty neat and the water was warm enough to do this without being unpleasant (even though it was only about 50 degrees outside).
It was this same manager who served our drinks and he was very friendly and helpful.
Breakfast in the morning included sausage, eggs, waffles, gravy, and an assortment of muffins, yourgurt, cereal and other cold items.
Both check in and check out were smooth and I got the impression that if there was any probelm at all, these would be easy people to deal with.
Will definetly stay here again if passing through the same way.
Only downside - even though the beds were comfortable the pillows were not, might want to bring your own,
