Got a room at the Hilton through Hotwire and got a good deal. When I arrived at the entrance on 400 Olive St. it said there was valet parking, but no one came out to help after I had been there for a few minutes. I went in and was given parking options, so I took the parking garage at $17/night, which is not bad for a big city.
About 5 PM I needed to get a taxi to a restaurant across town. The front desk clerk paged the bellman to flag a taxi down but he never did this, being that he was standing indoors the entire time I was waiting. After waiting 15 minutes one of the managers came by and tried to flag down a taxi himself in 20 degree weather, and it was also quite windy out. After a half an hour of waiting I did get a taxi, but was left wondering why the front desk didn't just call a company they knew of and order a cab that way. It would have saved me time and their manager the hassle of trying to flag down a taxi.
As I found later that evening, taxi's are hard to find after 5 PM, even in downtown St. Louis. Save yourself the hassle an use the Metro.
Otherwise the stay was fine. Rooms have high ceilings which I like, but the bathroom was rather small and cramped.
Room Tip: The view from my room was of a big brick side of a building. Ask for something better.

Thank you for your review. We appreciate your business and we are pleased you enjoyed your stay with us. I apologize the taxi service turned into a hassle. We normally do not experience such long waits to hail a taxi downtown especially if there is an event or conference in the city. Thank you for your understanding and we hope you will choose our hotel again the next time you travel to St. Louis.
