“Excellent hotel for doing business at Wash U... not a romantic getaway”
My husband and I stayed at the Parkway Hotel last week for a business trip. We reserved the room for around $105. Overall, our stay was excellent. Here are the pros and cons:
PROS:
1. The location is perfect if you are planning to interview at Wash U or if you are visiting patients. You can literally walk from the hotel to the 2nd floor of the hospital in less than a minute (they connect).
2. The staff are very helpful and hospitable. At check-in, I mentioned to my husband that I wanted some hot tea. One of the bellman overheard me and surprised me with hot water and a tea bag a few minutes later. The ladies at the check-in/out counter were always willing to answer questions and were knowledgeable about the area.
3. Great proximity to restaurants--sushi, cupcakes, sports bars... etc. I highly recommend the Wild Flower for lunch/dinner. EXCELLENT!
4. Clean rooms
5. Free internet and easy access to computers in the lobby area
6. Free afternoon pop corn and hot cookies at night
CONS
1. The rooms were very basic. Generic amenities (soaps, coffee, etc)
2. Does not have the grand, romantic feel of nicer hotels. Think of this hotel as a friendlier version of the Hampton Inn or the Courtyard by Marriott.
Bottom line: Would I stay here again? Absolutely! If we are visiting Wash U's campus again, we will definitely stay there. We thought that we were upgrading the next night at the Hilton downtown. It was very disappointing.

Hello and thank you for taking the time to review the Parkway Hotel. We are happy to read that you had gotten to experience our wonderful staff. They pride themselves on providing excellent customer service. As you noticed, we do have many free amenities, our Hot breakfast buffet, popcorn, fresh baked cookies, free internet, flat panel screen TV's (not all hotels have them yet) and more!.
Next time you are visiting the St. Louis area, possibly for an Anniversary get-a-way, please be sure you ask for the 7th or 8th floor. The Price range is from a $149 rate and higher, we have beautiful new bedding, plush terry robes, snack basket, make up mirror, a fitness center on floor 7 etc etc..
As I tell our corporate clients and wedding groups, seeing one floor or one guestroom of our hotel, does give you the over all picture of the entire hotel. Our guestrooms have different looks and amenities, depending on rate.
Thank you again for your review and Happy Holidays!
