We stayed here for our anniversary, and were awed by the attentiveness of the staff and the cleanliness of the room. The hotel is quite old, and still holds that old-world charm. Yet the room had a real thermostat on the wall and very modern decor. In fact, the room was EXACTLY like the professional photos...oversized, extremely clean (I'm a germaphobe, so this one was huge for me!), and by far the most comfortable I've ever stayed in. The sofa was soft without swallowing you. The bed was more like a giant cloud. It was soft, but not overly so. They use a medium-firm matress, a thick matress pad, and several layers of sheets, a down comforter, and the duvet. And don't even get me started on all the pillows! This bed was truly something from a dream!
The room itself was the most surprising to me. I've paid more for rooms with musty smells, a damp feel, or even tacky carpet that makes you cringe at the idea of going barefoot. This room had a clean, homey scent to it (kind of like fresh laundry). The carpet was clean, the bathroom was nicely sized and also quite clean...they really went above and beyond any other hotel on making the room perfect!
The staff, including the wait staff at the Mahogany Grille, were all very friendly and happy to help. I was worried a bit by other reviews I saw about the restaurant, but it was all for naught. If there was any drawback to our stay, it would have been the food at the Mahogany Grille. It was decent, but nothing to get excited about. The menu selection is small, but I don't think they get a big dinner crowd, so it's to be expected.
Overall, it was an outstanding stay, and I will definitely book there again!
I thought about taking pictures for you all, but the room truly looked like the pics they display. There were no hidden flaws that we found.
