“Nice room, decent view of the city, and great on-site bar!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 February 2012

First, the room. It was clean, as is expected of properties run by Drury. Very comfortable, had a mini-bar, the bed offered a great sleep - and here's the but: They put us right across from the elevators. While this was great for taking the dog out for a walk, it was awfully noisy! Had to keep the tv loud enough to drown it out so the dog didn't constantly monitor the hallway.
We didn't get up in time for breakfast, but the happy hour was nice. While it wasn't as fully hors d'oerves like other Drury's, it offered a selection of wine and draft Bud Light (free sodas and coffee as well), and the food was chips, salsa, popcorn and pretzels. While we're on food, they have a great on-site bar. The food there is good and reasonably priced. It was busy with folks that weren't staying there, if that helps give you an idea how popular it is.
The pool and hot tub area is good sized and was very clean. We enjoyed hanging out in there.
While not a full Drury experience, it's close! A great value for what we paid.

Room Tip: Ask for a room away from the elevators - the traffic from them is unwanted noise!

“Hockey game - Hotel okay, not great.”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 January 2012

We went to STL for a hockey game. This hotel (Pear Tree Inn - Union Station) seemed okay and it offered free parking, Wi-fi and breakfast. We stayed in a suite on the 7th floor. There was plenty of space. The bedrooms were in a totally seperate room which was nice. I put my kids to bed and then stayed up watching TV and checking emails without bothering them. The room was just okay. The furniture was banged up and the couch looked warn. The fridge and microwave are very outdated. The carpet was totally gross and I wish we all had flip-flops to wear. The TV remotes looked yucky. I always travel with my own Clorox wipes and I scrubbed them. (If you think that is weird, think about the last time you touched a hotel remote and then later touched your face!) There was some mold on the bathroom ceiling. When I turned the bath water on, there must have been a lot of chemical cleaner in the tub because it bubbled. I did not allow my kids to take a bath, they showered. The computer chair at the desk was not comfortable.

The beds were very comfortable. I even pulled back a corner of the sheets to look at the mattress (I know, gross, but I guess that is how you can check for bedbugs by looking at the seams on the mattress). Anyway, the mattress looked new and was a nice pillowtop.

The 'snacks' for the happy hour was just pretzels and chips and salsa. The wine and beer were good. The breakfast wasn't bad. Biscuits and gravy, waffles, sausage, yogurt, awesome blueberry muffins.

The pool was a decent size. The first night we were the only ones there and then it was packed the 2nd night. Plenty of towels. The hot tub surface is very rough. You'll have to be careful to to scratch yourself or snag your suit.

The entire staff was very friendly. At first you think it's nice that they have security and a locked parking garage, but then you have to wonder why they need this. We did see some sketchy people walking around at night. We took a cab to and from the game because we didn't want to walk in the area with our kiddos. Car break ins can happen anywhere. We made sure we left nothing in our minivan. We didn't have any problems, but it's hard to maneuver around the gates because of the garage set up.

We went to the Science Center and The Magic House. Union Station seems to be deserted. We zoomed through it in quickly because there are no stores anymore. If we come back, we'll probably stay in the suburbs at a newer hotel and then taxi it in for the hockey game.

Everything was great at this hotel, but the customer service (especially Nicole and Nelson) was outstanding! They greeted you by name when returning from an outing and were very helpful in giving directions and answering questions. Wonderful!

“Hawks game in St. Louis”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 15 December 2011

What a great hotel for a weekend getaway from Chicago. The staff was great and very helpful from finding places to eat, see and do in St. Louis. The restaurant had a shuttle for $2 both ways to the game. It could have worked out the best and the Hawks won too!! We stayed two nights and played cards into the early morning downstairs where the sever breakfast. We had free soda and popcorn all night. Breakfast in the morning offer a wide sections for morning favorites. The rooms were clean and comfortable. I would stay here again!

Room Tip: Top floors have a better view of the Arch.
