Another disappointing stay at the Chase Park Plaza hotel. I keep hoping things will improve as it is the only hotel conveniently located in the Central West End where I have business, but they just can’t seem to get it right. The hotel is a beautiful building with a grand entrance and lovely high ceilings and marble floors, but once you get past the charm of the lobby you are left with “tired rooms” and mediocre service. Our room while spacious in size (we upgraded to a deluxe suite) was very worn down. The couch had visible stains, and the bathroom looked dirty even though it was not (cracked grout and peeling wallpaper). Our recent three night stay was at a time when the hotel was not near capacity. Despite the fact that they were not overwhelmed with guests or special events our room was not cleaned on our second day and when we requested fresh towels that evening, it required two phone calls and we did not receive them for over 30 minutes. That kind of service or lack thereof, is unacceptable for a hotel of that rating and price range. I might have dismissed this had it been my first stay, but this is my third stay in the last year and each time I have encountered the same problems. Additionally, they put us right next to another guest who had small children screaming in the wee hours. I would accept that were the hotel crowded, but they had plenty of room to spread folks around to avoid noise issues. They already have a fundamental noise problem since many of the rooms face a busy street and the hotel is located next to several area hospitals. The ambulances and cars are easily heard throughout the night. If quiet is what you are looking for this is not the place for you. As is typical in the Midwest, everyone is very nice and very apologetic, but that does not make up for the inferior service and dingy rooms.
There is little they can do about the noise from the streets, but I hope they can improve their service, update the rooms and try to bring themselves up to a higher standard
Room Tip: While you may prefer a room with a view of Forest Park, they are the loudest rooms due to the busy s...
