“enjoying my stay!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 February 2012

A great couple of days in downtown St. Louis. I love the decor of the rooms. As historic as the lobby was the modern and clean room was quite a pleasant surprise. Huge tvs, fast internet, and really comfortable mattresses. The front desk staff was extremely helpful and pointed me to several excellent downtown eateries. The bell man was a hoot! Next time I travel to the midwest, I'll definitely check back in to the mayfair.

“Better than expected”

I was really concerned because I was assigned this hotel by Priceline and I didn't want to pay for parking. It turns out that the hotel is very nice, room was spacious, clean and comfortable. Very charming if you like older hotels that have been remodeled.
As I said my main concerned was the parking situation. It turns out that during the weekends parking is free in the streets adjacent to the hotel. Otherwise you will have to pay $16 per night (and I'm not sure you can take your car in and out without paying).
Great place for the weekend, I would avoid it during the week.

Dear Guest,
We are glad you enjoyed your visit to St. Louis and the Mayfair. The Mayfair's location "close to everything!" also poses a challenge when it comes to parking. The management negotiates discounted parking (about 1/2 block) for our guests, and at $16/day, is quite reasonable for an urban hotel with a location comparable to ours. As you mentioned, street parking is free on weekends, though it is in high demand during the warmer months.
Do come back and visit with us should your travel plans include St.Louis in the future!

“Awesome Hotel and Staff”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 January 2012

I had the pleasure of staying at this hotel a few days before Christmas for a few nights. My experience was great. I was greated by the General Manager - Peter Arscott upon my arrival and he was extremely pleasant. I was lucky to arrive a day before Victors Restaurant opened and was the first customer for lunch. The food/service was exceptional and was even greeted by the Chef. The rooms are comfortable and spotless. I had a wonderful two nights sleep. This hotel is by far the best kept secret in St. Louis. This is by far my favorite hotel in St. Louis.

“Great service”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 January 2012

We came from south Dakota and stayed here on new years eve . The girl at the front desk was very nice and informative. You do have to park on a parking ramp but its only about a half a block away so its not terrible. The guy at the cafe recommended some good places to grab breakfast/lunch. It's in walking distance to the arch and the Edward Jones dome as well as other stores and such. I would definately stay here again.

Dear Guest,
As with many urban hotels parking is sometimes a challenge, and very often pricier than most might be used to. The management at the Mayfair has negotiated discounted rates at the closest garage to the hotel, as you mentioned about 1/2 a block away. We're delighted that you enjoyed your visit to St. Louis, and hope to have you back again as our guest in the near future.

“A nice hotel, but we had a bad experience”

We stayed here after the World Series game 7 (Go Cards!!!). I had to cancel my reservation and rebook for the next night when the game schedule changed due to rain out. They were very accommodating over the phone, giving me the same rate for the new night, even though the price was going up by the second on hotels.com. They do not have their own parking lot and suggest you park a block away in public parking for $16/day. I consider this a pricey addition to the room price, and an inconvenience, especially when there is a huge event downtown. I called ahead of time and they made no guarantees that parking would be available for their guests. This is not good customer service. They were very busy when we arrived at check-in time, only a few hours before game start, but they seemed to have all hand on deck and looked to be as accommodating as possible. We had no problems checking in or will our reservation and our room was ready as expected. The bad part of our experience started when we entered our room and it smelled as if someone was smoking, as if an actual cigarette was burning in the room! It was terrible and overwhelming so much that I was worried our clothes would begin to stink if we stayed in there too long. And it was a non-smoking room. Clearly, some disrespectful person had stayed in there the previous night. Making things worse, the windows did not open. Aside from that, our King with a sleeper sofa room was very spacious. It had two televisions, plenty of sitting room and was tastefully decorated. If we were not there only to go to the game and then party after and had plans to spend any time in the room or had bad allergies, the cigarette stench in the room would've been a major problem. Upon check-out the manager apologized for our inconvenience and gave us a discount on our final bill.

Room Tip: Getting a sleeper sofa room is only $10 more and adds a lot of space and sitting room.

Dear Guest,
Thank you for sharing your experience of you visit with us here at the Mayfair. As you know our hotel is fully non-smoking, but occasionally we have insensitive guests who violate our policy. However upon check-out rooms that have an odor are taken out of service and thoroughly cleaned and deodorized. Obviously this did not occur with your room, and for this I heartily apologize. I will re-visit our policy with our housekeeping department in an effort to make sure this does not occur in the future.
Aside from that experience, we are truly delighted that you enjoyed your visit to St.Louis to share in the Cards victory, and should your travels bring you back to town we hope to have you back as our guests, (smoke-free room this time...promise!)
Warmly,
Peter Arscott
