I stayed here for 1 night while on travel for my job and it was wonderful. Typically I stay at Marriotts since I have a rewards card with the hotel chain, but this time I wanted something special. So, I did an Internet search on my tablet, came across this B+B and loved its look...and I called and reserved! The inside of the home is absolutely lovely. My room was spacious, beautifully decorated, and had such a comfy bed that I was able to fall asleep earlier than usual and get some much needed rest. In the morning, coffee was ready and this was followed by a meal of stuffed french toast and mixed fresh fruit. The french toast was several inches thick, stuffed with some dried berries and topped with toasted almonds and a maple syrup-honey combination (I think that's what it was--it was yummy, that I know for sure). The other options for those who are foolish enough to pass this up are quiches, either vegetarian or sausage. The host was very pleasant, helpful, and efficient. This is a must stay if you are traveling through this area--don't be put off by the scattered run-down homes in many sections of St. Joseph, including this area. It's a sign of the times, unfortunately, and you will miss a wonderful stay and sleep if you pass up this gorgeous home. Oh, there are also two friendly golden tabby cats lounging around the yard and they actually will give a welcoming "meow" if you talk to them! (Even the animals are welcoming!)

We stayed here for one night in Ferdinand's Room. The room was very nicely decorated and clean. The two beds were great, with very attractive and comfortable bedding and firm mattresses, and we both slept very well. The soaking tub was perfect for my wife, but a liitle bit short for me (she is about 5' 4" and I am 5' 11"). The common areas of the mansion were very nice. Breakfast was very good. We did not have much time to explore St. Joseph, but we both hope to go back and would certainly stay here again. We would try to get the Water Spa Room next time, which has a two-person spa tub. This room was already booked when we made our reservation, but we had a chance to see it since we arrived before the couple who had that room.

I can only echo the previous reviews here and assure the interested that the quality and atmosphere continue. Delightful architecture, great breakfasts, Gilded Age atmosphere all around, capably administered by Olin. Specify if you must have a shower; a few rooms are tub only (clawfoot of course) Wifi is included though you won't see it mentioned. St Joseph is not exactly a Destination but if you find yourself in town, stay here. I'll be coming back.

Absolutely gorgeous historic bed and breakfast-- beautiful decor and furnishings in the common rooms and the bedrooms. We used it as a hotel, but this would be a beautiful place to have an event. The breakfast was to die for, and included local ingredients such as honey and eggs-- the french toast was amazing!! You might want to request it, because the menu changes every day. The owner, Olin, is extremely friendly and helpful if you are unfamiliar with the area. A great place that is far better than any hotel in town! Stay here!!
