The hotel decor is northwoods/cabin-ish. It is a very comfortable and inviting atmosphere. It starts in the lobby and continues throughout the hotel including the rooms, common areas and pool area.
Check in and check out was quick and easy and we were greeted both times by very friendly staff. The hotel is clean. The housekeeping staff is friendly, efficient and accomodating.
The free breakfast left a bit to be desired on the weekends, although what they had was delicious. Muffins, bagels and english muffins, 3 different cereals, biscuits and gravy, packaged french toast to be microwaved or toasted, yogurt. The staff kept it well stocked even during busy periods. We were looking for a bit bigger meal to last the day until our 5pm family wedding. I believe they have make your own waffles during the week.
The rooms were very cutely decorated and large. The bed was comfortable as was the overstuffed arm chair/ottoman in the room...can you say nap time? Bathroom was clean and stocked appropriately. A counter area in the room with the refrig underneath and coffeemaker and microwave on top, but still plenty of space on counter. The room darkening shades were excellent.
The pool area was very cute as well. There were nice murals painted on the walls making you feel like you were outside. The very large hot tub was nice, although the number of jets was low considering the size of the tub. It was VERY relaxing though, surrounded by rocks/scenery. The indoor/outdoor pool enabled you to swim under the hanging rubber door to the outside, which was fun as it was 30 degrees outside and the steam was rising off the water. The surrounding pool area had lounge chairs as well as tables and chairs. They provided pool towels as well.
At the end of the 3rd floor was a living room area with 2 couches and 2 arm chairs and 2 "woodsy" chairs. It was a nice gathering place for our family, who had come from opposite ends of the country for the family wedding, to relax and catch up.
There was a business center where we were able to go online and check in for our flights and print out our boarding passes.
We would definitely stay here again if we were in this area. We would also try staying in any of the other Stoney Creek Inns.
