My husband and I were staying in town for my son's sports competition. When we went to check in we found that our reservation had been given to someone else and we were told that we "already checked in". I've never had this happen before and the gal behind the desk was completely befuddled and confused about what a co-worker apparently had done--swapped our room with another room. I have allergies to feather pillows so my "feather free" room was given to someone else. The gal tried very hard to get to the bottom and could not reach a manager or supervisor, but eventually after about 30 minutes they just assigned us to the room that the other people were supposed to have. It was good enough...some stains here and there, and the hallways in the entire hotel smell like my grandfathers closet--very musty. I was hoping that the room was not musty or smokey, and I was surprised by how much it did NOT smell like the rest of this beat-up hotel. The room and the bed were very pleasant, and the tvs are very old (not flat) but the cable does offer 99 channels and it's a small screen (like a 19 inch or so) so it was not a very impressive accommodation but it was only $79 so I think I got what I paid for. It could have been much worse for that price. My room was clean, the bed was comfortable, and the room had no weird odors...Break fast is offered in the price so all in all, I was ok with staying here. The breakfast offers the usual continental breakfast items but also includes a waffle maker (was not functioning when we were there) and an array of hot breakfast sandwiches you heat up in a microwave. We were the first ones in the kitchen area, and the trash was overflowing from the night before, so I could tell the help did not attend to the trash the night before. The elevators are very small, but we don't need much room. The location is excellent for exploring old town St.Charles nearby (but I'd stay at the nearby Embassy Suites if I were to stay in this part of town again).

I have stayed here a number of times for business. There is no work out facility, until their remodel this Spring, but they give you a pass to a local gym down the road which was great. It's easy to find, right off the HWY. Reasonable price. Many of the rooms seem "damp", probably from air conditioning in the summer. Overall though I have stayed there repeat times for location, price and friendly staff. Looking forward to seeing how the remodel impacts the hotel.

Weekend stay - family wedding. Personal was very friendly and responsive. Room was clean. Bed very clean and comfortable. Extra feather pillows as requested. Room could use some bathroom updating, but was clean. Lighting in bathroom could be better, a bit dim for a vanity mirror. Hallway was quiet. It was evident that the staff went out of their way to please! We had a good experience. Would return.

When you think of Marriot you expected a nice clean hotel. This was not. The outside looked ok but the interior of the hotel needs a facelift. My first room has some bug issues in the bed, not bed bugs but something else. The decorations are old and the rooms need a good cleaning and attention. When i talked to the desk person they apologized and moved me to another room. I would not stay here again.
