“Terrible Service - AC -related spin”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 August 2010

I travel for business with a co-worker and booked a hotel via hotwire.com. I was excited because this establishment had good reviews from tripadvisor and from priceline.com. In fact, I was looking forward to my stay.
We arrived at the hotel, looking forward to have a good rest so we can meet up with clients tomorrow. The A/C was not working. I talked to the staff about the A/C that was not working and requested for a room change. We went over to different rooms and all the ACs were not working. After much probing, the staff slipped about how long this establishment has been having this AC problem. Yes. They have been having AC problem since at least April.

I called hotwire.com to talk to a representative who agreed to refund me some $11 hotwire dollars and help me look for another establishment. This was sometime after 10:30 p.m. And at a critical point in time (after the representative had taken down my credit card info and other information required to book a room), I lost cell-phone connection. I called back and was connected to a different hotwire representative, who won't honor my request because it was after 11 p.m.

This is unethical business practice. No, I will not recommend this hotel to a friend.
As far as hotwire.com, I trusted this company to at least provide a reputable, decent accomodation. No, I wasn't expecting a 5-star hotel. All I ask for is a clean bed and functioning A/C so I have a good night sleep and be 100% ready when I have to meet with clients. I am sorely disappointed with Country Inn and Hotwire. I do not recommend either.

“Hard to find, NOT your average Country Inn!!!”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 18 March 2010

This hotel was extremely hard to find, we even had to call the hotel for help finding them. It is NOT an average Country Inn. We expected the traditional Country Inn chain style hotel we like to stay in. This was more of a B & B, but with breakfast not starting until 7am (which we missed). The staff did not tell us what time breakfast was served. There are much better rooms in the area for the price. So I would recommend skipping this property and stay elsewhere!!

“Beautiful hotel, incompitenet staff”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 December 2009

I booked several rooms at this hotel for my bachelor/bachelorette party with my fiance. The girl who handled our booking said she would book it as 10 rooms under my name instead of as a block. This turned out to be a huge problem because when our guests called to book a room, the hotel staff could not find the group of rooms, and when they did, they told our guests that they could not change the rooms from my name to theirs. I called the hotel to find out what the problem was, and they said they would "fix" it by putting a note on the reservation that it was really a group. Still several more people called and again, they could not find the rooms.
Upon arrival to the hotel, my fiance and I were told that we did not have a room (there were 10 in our name!!) The hotel was overbooked, and we were the last from our group to check in. We were told that because the rest of the rooms had been prepaid through sites like expedia, there was not a room available for us.
Needless to say, we were not very happy, and the staff's great idea was to put my fiance and I on a roll away twin bed in a room with someone else from our group and they offered to comp the one room. We took the offer as we had nowhere else to stay.

The next morning I went down to speak with a manager about the problem, and her first remark was "Yeah, they told me you would be coming to talk to me" I thought that was extremely rude of her. Her first comment should have been, I am terribly sorry you were inconvenienced. Then she continued to ask me "what would you like me to do about it?" and eventually informed me she didn't know why it was even a problem because they ended up having one room open that night! Thank you for telling us!

The rooms we booked cost approximately $125. The room my fiance and I ended up in was supposed to be comped, and the card on that room ended up with a $300+ charge on it. It was taken care of when we called, but it should not have happened in the first place.

We picked this hotel due to it proximity to the main attractions in Historic St. Charles, but would never return!
The hotel is new and clean, but clearly the staff must be new to the hotel business as well!

“Great Hotel, Great Value”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 21 May 2006

people found this review helpful

If you're staying in St. Charles, this is a great location at one end of the Main Street historic district. The hotel has plenty of parking, some of which is covered. The rooms are clean, well furnished and look to be relatively new. They include a free breakfast, it's good too!

The location is ideal for someone who wants to visit the Main Street area without staying right in the middle of it. It's in a quiet area, we had no problems with noise from the outdoors.

I travel regularly and can say I've paid a whole lot more for a whole lot less many, many times!
