“Despite a Few Hiccups, A Very Satisfactory Stay”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 August 2011

We stopped in for a one-night stay, without having a reservation. Noticed that the entrance and lobby were somewhat tired-looking and there was a sign in the lobby stating the premises was undergoing renovations (carpeting and furniture). Was a bit skeptical, but decided to go forward with asking to see a room. Desk clerk obliged my request. Room was spacious, fairly well-appointed and fairly clean (did note a half-dollar-sized stain on one of the two spreads.) Otherwise, quite satisfactory. Hotel's pool is what most hotel chains offer -- something the size of a glorified hot tub that would satisfy kiddies aged 3 to 7. We did not use it. Hotel does not have an exercise/fitness room, but does have an arrangement for guests to avail themselves of the fitness facility of hospital nearby (we did not). Wifi connection was of good speed. Breakfast was expansive (make-your-own waffles, the ubiquitous biscuits-and-gravy, bagels and cream cheese, fruit, cereals, coffee and juices). Only negative comment relative to breakfast is that it is held in an open area just inside the lobby doors. Would be much more appealing if a divider wall or half wall was constructed to segregate these two areas and a flat-screen t.v. was added to the breakfast space. All-in-all, this facility is on the upper-end of average for its class.

“DONT STAY HERE!”

This has been our annual location for a family reunion in Poplar Bluff, MO., except for a couple of years when they were booked prior to our request. Most of our family members traveling from other locations stayed at this Comfort Inn. This last experience was TERRIBLE! Regarding mine and my wife's experience: Our first room's air conditioning unit had leaked onto the carpet, expanding out at least a yard from the unit. We were moved to another room. THAT room reeked of cigarette smoke (although it wasn't a "smoking room") and we were finally moved to a king suite. That was fine. Other family members didn't fare as well, however. Two rooms had mold growing in various locations: shower ceiling, on the ceiling in the main room, and on the air conditioning unit. Photos were taken of these areas by the occupants to be forwarded to management/property owners. The swimming pool's filtration system was malfunctioning and the water was very cloudy. No information was provided or signage up. This information was received when staff was asked about the condition of the pool. The elevator stopped functioning--just one of those things--but one of our elderly family members, staying on the third floor, uses a walker and cannot navigate stairs. When inquiries were made about relocation, the employee on duty stated there were no rooms available. Then he stated rudely, "I had to put up with you people last year". He also was rude with other guests (not with our family) as well. We will be sure to forward our complaints (as are other family members) to the management. The family is making arrangements for our next reunion accommodations to be anywhere BUT Comfort Inn in Poplar Bluff, MO.

“If you like a 'tired' hotel -- stay here!”

Based upon the 8 reviews listed I made reservations here -- I cannot believe that people gave this hotel such positive reviews. It's like we're not talking about the same place. When you entered the hotel there was a stale smell to the lobby. Yes, they are renovating but from the looks of our room and it's furniture it should've been done 5+ years ago. The desk clerk was not customer oriented at all -- very quick with his replies and no eye contact. I was very disappointed and would not recommend this hotel. Hopefully when the renovation is done the staff will take pride in keeping things looking clean and smelling clean!

“Friendly staff, nice accommodations”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 May 2011

After a mix-up with scheduling, the staff at the Poplar Bluff Comfort Inn was extremely helpful sorting out our reservation. Everyone from maintenance to reception was really friendly...that midwestern charm! They were very apologetic about the "mess" as they were undergoing renovations, including new carpet, but it wasn't an issue at all. The pool looked inviting, but we never did make it out there. Overall, a great stay. We would absolutely stay there again.

For great Mexican food, visit Tio's Mexican Bar & Grill while you're there. Try the homemade guacamole, made table-side!

“After Driving Down US-67 We Knew We Had Found Civilization Again...”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 November 2010

when we arrived at the Comfort Inn. And so very glad to find one this good. Very Nice! The Front Desk was very accomodating in finding us a fridge, which we needed because my Diabetic Husband must keep his insulin cool. It did cost us a little extra but well worth it . The room was well decorated in apricot & burnt orange. The bathroom was quite roomy & very nice. We had 2 queen beds which slept very well. We also had a desk with 2 chairs, which we always like a 2nd chair. The room also had a safe for valuables which we did not use. My husband said the breakfast was very good. Evidently, a lot of guests were attempting to leave at the same time because we had a wait for a luggage cart. The 2 carts they have might not be enough.
