“A stay on December 16-17 2011”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 19 January 2012

My husband and I were in the St. Louis area the above mentioned dates and stayed at this hotel. We found the hotel to be clean, personnell friendly and helpful. The parking access to the lobby was great.
Overall we rate it at the top for hotels we have stayed at in the U.S.
The breakfast area was clean and the food was hot. An attendant was constantly monitoring the bar.....
Although under sad circumstances we did enjoy our stay at the Quality Inn Westport in Maryland Hgts, Mo.

“Best place in St. Louis”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 23 December 2011

If you are ever travelling in St. Louis and want real value, try the Quality Inn in Maryland Heights. It is so close to the airport and the staff is great. The beds are firm yet really soft like the temperpedic stuff. The breakfast in the morning has everything even hot waffles and fresh bacon and sausage. Whenever I am in St. Louis I stay there. At times I will bring my kids along. The indoor pool is fantastic. It is large not one of those little ones that seem to be an afterthought at other hotels. There were only two negatives. I saw a couple of carpet stains in one hallway and my room was a little distance from the boiler so I had to run the hot water for a minute or two. The room was super clean and neat. So if you can live with a carpet stain (they may have cleaned it by now) and waiting a minute or two for hot water then this is the place. Oh, and make sure you have a rental car...they don't have a shuttle to the airport.

“Not bad for the money”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 November 2011

I book 2 rooms for a Friday Night Get together. The staff was very nice and helpful. The hotel has seen better days but it was a nice deal for the money.

The pool was cold but they were working on it. I was sad to see that the Hot tub was gone.

“Not Fit for a DOG!!”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 17 October 2011

This hotel is causing a BAD name for all "Quality" Inns. I read the reviews and was hesitant about booking, but my son's college soccer team was staying there and since I do not get to see him much now that he is away at college I went ahead with the booking because I wanted to spend some time with him. Upon check in the loby was fine and I thought oh this isn't as bad as the reviews. BUT upon going up to our room, within 5 minutes of us being in the room, my husband's legs were black and covered with FLEAS!!! I was in the restroom and thought he was joking, but upon stepping out of the bathroom I had the same problem!! We immediately went down and told them to cancel our reservation and we were going elsewhere. Hard telling what other kind of BUGS were in the room! This ruined our whole trip and since my son was with the team, he could not go to a different hotel and had to stay in the disgusting place and we did not get to visit at all! I will now be leary of ANY hotel that is a "Quality" LOL Inn!

“VERY dirty. Would never stay there again. Needs COMPLETE renovation. Absolutely FILTHY rooms.”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 October 2011

Wow...where to start. Carpet throughout the room was disgusting with huge, nasty stains everywhere. Huge, gross reddish brown stain on corner of box spring. Same type stain on sofa bed mattress. Base of Doors & baseboards rotting.

Food chunks stuck on wall which were not cleaned off by housekeeping while we stayed. I cleaned them myself. Sticky substance and food (?) stuck all over back of chair. Large rips on both arms of chair. Fabric chairs at table had large stains in seats. We put towels over them to sit. Hairs in a couple of towels.

We even purchased cheap vinyl mattress covers and sheets to put on top of existing bedding at night. We actually threw away the mattress covers when we left because they had been on the beds.

Hall carpeting was dirty and stained. Area where staff prepared continental breakfast in back had large carpet stains and was not clean.

First evening no hot water. Front desk staff advised we would have to "let the water run for about 15 minutes" and then it might get warm. Had to do that each time we needed to shower, bathe or shave.

TV was old and had static on several of the channels we wanted to watch. It was stuck in closed caption mode in SPANISH because the menu function on the remote did not work.

Several hairs in bathtub when we arrived. We bought disinfectant and cleaned it ourselves. Bathroom and bathtub was HUGE and in good shape with seperate shower which was very nice.

Continental breakfast offered waffles and bacon. Hotel Staff were mostly disinterested in guest service ---a couple were rude. Requests for breakfast items that had run out were rudely refused by one staff member.

Day shift Front Desk Clerk and one lady working continental breakfast were very nice and helpful. Desk clerk gave us keys to a different room to view next morning after our arrival but carpet and room were same condition as our room---very stainedand dirty. Manager was contacted by clerk about condition of our room. Desk clerk said that since we had used our Choice Rewards Points there was nothing that the manager could do about that---the points had already been deducted so we were stuck. That is the only reason we stayed. Manager did comp our 3rd reservation night but if we hadn't already lost 2 nights worth of points we would NEVER have stayed there.

The pool was large and 9 feet deep but was VERY cold and the bottom needs refinishing desperately. Nice atrium pool area.

We had never seen a dirtier hotel.
Unbelievable that this was a Quality Inn---a Choice Hotels property!!!

Dear Momof3bluegrass,
Thank you so much for staying at the Quality Inn Westport. We appreciate you bringing these issues to our attention. We are pleased that after a discussion with management we did come up with a resolution that met your satisfaction. With any reward points management unfortunately can not just “give them back” Choice requires the guest contact them to make the reimbursement possible. I am very sorry you experienced any issues and as you can see by our website we are in the process of renovating our indoor pool in the coming weeks. We hope you will give us a chance the next time you are in the area to improve on this bad experience.

Sincerely,
Hotel Management
