“BAD TO THE BONE!”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 September 2011

We had an awful experience at this hotel. Upon arriving to the room, we greeted by the staff that just did not care about issues this was apparent upon arrival . This added to our irritation after driving several hours.

Contrary to the dressed up pictures on the website, the rooms with worn furniture that are horribly outdated also terribly stained with ???, and a pungent musty smell permeates the rooms and hallways. The floor was a new issue in its self! I know if you took a black light into hotels it would scare most people but this one ...WOW! While these factors would be enough to not choose this hotel, we encountered a number of other issues from both a cleanliness and quality perspective that reinforced our displeasure with the hotel.

Examples hallway carpet coming up by the elevator. The interior is falling apart piece by piece and not one person seems to care. It does not meet the standard we hold the Hampton. We can say this was the Worst Hampton stay! The bed was not comfortable and after traveling for a day it was enough. We honestly tried. The breakfast was slim and just crazy. Raw bacon, fruit limited and just not up to the standards of the other Hampton we stayed at prior to this one. It was the reason we booked it was the standards and guaranty.

The location of the hotel is great but the hotel is less than impressive and appears to have no desire to improve, which will certainly hasten its further decline.

“Great value”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 20 August 2011

You get what it says on the tin. It was clean, adequate pool, good rooms, clean functional. predictable breakfast, but more than ok. Staff were helpful and as one night stop was what we were looking for.
Avoid the Chinese restaurant/buffet nearly next door....coldish food looked and tasted like it'd been there a good while longer than it should.

“Close to the Interstate...not many available”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 19 October 2010

Turned out to be a good pace to stop over one night. We were looking for a convenient spot at about that mile marker and itfit the bill just fine.

“Quiet, clean, restful...just what we were looking for.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 July 2010

The stay was wonderful, the staff was curteous and helpful. We had stayed in other Hampton Inns and loved them, so knew we were going to be pleased. The only downside was that this Hampton does not have fridge and microwave in any rooms but the suites, something we had had in regular rooms before with Hampton. That didn't detract from the wonderful rest and treatment though! We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves.

“A little pricy for what it was, but adequate”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 September 2009

We stayed in a king room with a fridge and microwave. In addition to the bed, the room had a pull out couch and a coffee table. There was plenty of room for the crib in the room, which was nice, because we were able to put the crib far away from us enough to not hear every single movement of our daughter. Only two things really bothered me about the room: 1) Our non-smoking room was on the first floor next to a smoking room, and it sometimes smelled like smoke. My in-laws had a room across the hall, and theirs didn't smell like smoke, so this may be luck of the draw. 2) The sheets kept coming off the bed! I've never seen a hotel use fitted sheets before, and every morning, the corner of the sheets and mattress pad on both sides of the bed would peel off, leaving the mattress exposed. It was more annoying than anything else.

The housekeeping staff was friendly, and everything was clean except for the floor that turned all our socks black... but that is pretty standard for a hotel room.

The breakfast area itself was pleasant, and we read the paper together there. They were never low on food when we were there, and there were always enough places to sit. The hot breakfast food was just adequate enough to keep us from going out to breakfast, but wasn't all that enjoyable. One morning was hard, pre-cooked waffles and sliced breakfast kielbasa with biscuits, another was scrambled eggs with tiny bits of ham and cheese and sausage and biscuits, and I can't remember the other morning. There were three kinds of cereal, milk, oatmeal packets, coffee, pastries, bagels, muffins, and a juice machine. It all sounds good on paper, but my bagel was hard, and they had the same kinds of muffins each day I was there, so I was never sure how old they were.

If it matters to you, the Hampton Inn's pool is an outdoor pool, and was therefore closed because it is fall. The Holiday Inn next door has been recently remodeled and has an indoor pool.

Staff was friendly, and overall we were satisfied... I don't know how big the rooms are in the Holiday Inn next door, but I loved the roomy feel of our king room at the Hampton Inn. Traveling with a two-year-old, it made things seem a little less cramped.
