“Great Extras”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 September 2011

We stayed at the Drury Inn Kansas City Stadium while we were in town to watch a Royals Game. The stadium was right across the street from the stadium and there was a walkway from the hotel to the stadium. This is the perfect location to stay if you are interested in catching a game! The room was a little small. There were 4 people and two beds and with our bags (nobody packed a large amount), we found that there was not a whole lot of space. The warm food in the evening was nice and it was great to be able to get free soda until 10pm. I would recommend this hotel as it was clean and was a great location. Just don't expect a whole lot of extra space!

“Good for after a game with the buddies but would never bring my wife here”

The location for a baseball game or football game is great and the free cocktail hour (limit 3 drinks) is a nice touch before the game, but I think the hotel has seen better days. The decor in the room seems like something you see in the old 80's movies and I have a feeling that’s when it was put in the rooms. We got the 2 double bed 2 room suite which was a decent sized room, but the bathroom is pretty small. House keeping didn't clean the bathroom very well before us because there was hair on the floor from before us which makes you wonder about how clean everything else is. The room was a little musty smelling and one of my buddies and I had some allergy issues from the room. All and all if you are going here for a place to crash after a night of drinking and hanging out with some buddies at a ball game I would suggest it. If you are in town with your wife or kids and looking for a nice place to stay I would suggest steering clear of this hotel and staying some where else because for the price you pay for this room you can stay some place much nicer.

“Convenient and friendly hotel near Kauffman Stadium”

While in Kansas City to attend two baseball games, we stayed at the Drury Inn across the highway from the stadium. The location is extremely convenient for sports fans. Just walk across the bridge to the stadium with no parking or traffic hassles. The hotel provides a free cooked breakfast every morning, and now has free beverages (including alcoholic) and what they call "snacks" every evening at 5:30. The snacks are hearty enough to be called dinner-on various nights they have macaroni and cheese, chicken wings, baked potatoes, and other hot foods, along with a very small salad bar. Eating here before heading to the ballpark save lots of cash. Our room was fine, though the first night we stayed there was a lot of noise from the room next door. There was a connecting door, which contributed to the noise factor. The employees were all extremely friendly and helpful. The room price seems to have gone up over the last couple of years, but the great location, breakfast, beverages, and "snacks" make it worthwhile.

“Perfect location if you're in KC to watch the Royals.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 23 August 2011

The new "George Brett" walkway built in anticpation for the 2012 All Star game made the night at Kaufman Stadium even better. Rather than hassle with parking (especially waiting after the game trying to get out of there) walking to the stadium and returning to the hotel after the game was great. We were expecting to partake some of the ballpark junk food but the happy hour food and drinks at Drury Inn were sufficient. Breakfast the next morning was just a bonus.

“First Time at Drury Inn & we are sold!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 August 2011

Thanks to Trip Advisor reviewers, we decided to stay here for the close proximity to Kauffman Field for a ball game August 4. I was interested in their 'Kick Back' food and beverage offering. The front desk clerk who checked us in said it would be really busy at 5:30, but would be less so after the initial rush was over. We decided to go a little early (5:20), since we needed to get to the game. We lined up down the hall for the few minutes we had to wait.

First station was the bar where my husband got a beer on tap and I went for a gin and tonic (they also had a few cocktails on the menu, such as martinis). Then there were nachos with cheese sauce, hot dogs, baked potatoes, broccoli soup, chicken tenders -- everything I don't usually eat, but hey, we were on vacation and it's free! The chicken tenders were the best I've ever had. I thought 2 drinks were included (one for each of us), but the nice lady at the bar advised us it was 3 drinks (each!). At a separate station was lettuce, raw carrots, celery, salad dressing. We were able to find a table, and while we were there, the hotel manager and several front desk staff were circulating -- visiting with guests and helping them get extra food or drink items or clearing things off. My husband & I were both amazed how helpful the staff were.

The walk to the ball park was easy enough (across the overpass over I-70), with sidewalks and walk lights most of the way. The last part we chose to walk down a grassy slope -- not too difficult unless you have mobility issues. We were a little disoriented getting back, but eventually followed the crowd back up the hill.

Our room at the Drury Inn was quite acceptable -- clean, quiet, and always nice to have a fridge and microwave. We had booked on the Drury Inn website for $120. plus taxes and were more than satisfied with our one-night stay. We normally stay at Holiday Inn Express, but will definitely be looking for Drury Inns in the future, and also recommending them to our friends and colleagues. Hot breakfast also included.
