“Almost slept in my car instead”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 September 2011

At first arrival we were issued key cards... neither of which worked. theres limited access to your room considering all of the surrounding doors of the building do not open with key cards, although the clerk said they SHOULD. So it was a LONG walk to our room going through the front and continuing through the entire building. After getting issued another set of key cards, onlly ONE which ended up working, we walked up to the room. The door was propped open and unlocked, beds were made, floor was filthy, someones empty plastic bottle was laying in the corner, bath tub looked like hell and the towel rack was torn out of the wall, leaving behind a torn drywall appearance, not very presentable. Chamber maids were walking down the hall singing loudly with their headphones in. yes the TV was old, but I dont go to hotels for the TV. The pool area, not bad, however, although you can access the pool from multiple doors, god forbid you need to go back into your (upstairs) room, because only one door (nearest the lobby) is unlocked. downstairs rooms have their own doors leading to the courtyard/pool. Now, when that was said and done, I laid down to sleep... kind of. My wife and I woke up achy due to the rocks they call beds being the most uncomfortable bed I have ever slept on, and I have been to cheaper hotels. I woke up in the midle of the night ready to sleep in my car, but somehow managed to get back to sleep and woke up feeling like I just played a game of football.

“now a Country Hearth more of a truck stop than a hotel”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 15 July 2011

Hotel has been renamed Countyr Hearth. I was traveling alone on business. Big mistake to stay here. Only woman on property the rest were truck drivers stopping for the night. Room smelled like smoke despite strict nonsmoking policy. It was clean but, needed improvements. Bedspread needed replaced. Internet connection sucked and I was there to work. Also tv and remote were awful. It wasn't close to any restuarants other than fast food. I got out of there pretty quick the next morning.

While we do have a large nunmber of commercial guests who choose to stay here at the Country Hearth Inn - I can assure you that this hotel is quite safe. Being positive you were not the only woman on property - we have several women who stay here and a large number of our staff is comprised of women. I am certainly sorry that you were not comfortable - and wish that you would have stopped by the front desk. I can assure you that we could have put your mind at ease. Yes - although we are an older hotel - we offer clean rooms as you mentioned and have the best continental breakfast buffet of any other hotel in the area. Our rates are very competative - no doubt the reason you chose to stay at the Country Hearth. We would like an opportunity to prove to you that this staff will provide outstanding service and quailty and hope that you will reconsider and choose Country Hearth Inn during your next visit to Kansas City.

“If this hotel charged $49.99 for a single...”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 May 2010 via mobile

If this hotel charged $49.99 for a single room, I wouldn't be writing this. But for $119.00 for a single, it absolutely was a terrible value. The toilet was "stained" with yellow (not positive it was stained as I didn't try to clean it) and the tub was black between the raised non-slip bumps on the floor. The AC was a wall unit and set at high cool max, it came in for 30 seconds once an hour. The night shift cleaning crew (or whatever the ladies were there to do up and down the hallway all night) were very happy and having a good night. I know this as their chatter and laughter woke us up all through the night and kept our small Maltese growling every 40 minutes or so. The breakfast is a full one though the half and half was curdled and the coffee was flavored out of the main coffee-maker, either of which would cause nausea but together, made for a sick stomach. Like I said, for $49 a night, I wouldn't be posting; but for $119, I expect a quiet night's rest in a cool room with a good cup of coffee in the morn followed by a hot shower in a clean bath. This hotel did not have those amenities.

“GHETTO”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 22 November 2009

For being a farely new hotel, only a couple years from being built from the ground up this hotel sucks. the furniture and bed are decent. the t.v's are all old as well as the excercise equipment what a joke. the breakfast is ok if you can stand rude attendants. the location is good if you work on the railroad, being so close to a few major railroad yards. most of the train crews stay here cause its cheap. most of the vehicles seen in the parking lot are protected with 'the club' on their steering wheels. all around the area of this location there are many homeless hanging around. From the La Quinta hotels i have stayed in before ranging from California to Virginia to New York and everywhere in between this location does not stand up to the name and should be more like a days inn or super 8.
Good luck using the internet here, im surprised i havnt lossed signal yet.

“Creepy place.”

We were going to stay here but when we pulled up it looked too creepy. The hotel is in a secluded location and driving through the parking lot felt like we were in a rundown apartment complex. Not LQ's pride and joy. However, the staff on the phone was very friendly and helpful.
