This Holiday Inn is less than 2 years old and is one of the new Prototype, but is still below par for their target market.

Property is already showing major signs of wear such as stained carpets, damaged and scuffed walls, water spots on ceiling etc. Noise is a major problem due to the cheap construction. You can feel & hear not only those in the hall, but surrounding rooms including those above and below. Beds are decent, but cannot compare to the offering from others at this star level.

Perhaps the biggest drawback to this property is the staff, management in particular. Management prefers to lie than spend 40 seconds to correct a problem. Beware that if the KCI Expo enter (attached to the hotel) has an event, you will find it nearly impossible to find a place to park since the lot is shared and no spots are saved for hotel guests. Pool is extremely small for the size of property.

Sadly, if this is the direction Holiday Inn is moving with it's new properties, it does not bode well for the franchise. Save yourself the trouble and book one of the other KCI Airport area hotels who know how to treat customers right.

I went to Kansas City for the Airliners International 2007 airline collectible convention and this was the official hotel. It was clean and comfortable. The service in the restaurant was fairly bad; I walked out before ordering breakfast on the first day. There's no hotel store, nor snack machines available. However, for an airport hotel, it's conveniently located, has a fitness and business center, and a courteous staff. The bartender was cool too.

The Holiday Inn Kansas City International Airport Hotel is a relatively new property, located about a mile from the Kansas City International Airport (KCI). It features a contemporary interior, with design and features that will please most business and leisure travelers. Service is adequate, and best of all, there is free wireless Internet, as with most Holiday Inn properties.

The building exterior is clean and contemporary, with a functional, non-pretentious lobby once you step inside. Rooms are of a good size, with nice, comfortable bed and sheets.

It has a rather small exercise room, however, with all but four cardio machines. It does have a nice indoor pool though, which rounds up its recreational amenities.

I will ditto almost everything the previous reviewer said. One small correction: not every table in the restaurant has its own TV -- only a few do. Mainly this is so people can watch CNN while they're eating breakfast, I guess.

This hotel is by far the best Holiday Inn I have ever seen. I didn't have time to explore the conference or fitness facilities. The lobby is beautiful, and the lounge by the 6th floor elevators was a big surprise (complete with a PC that I could use to check my e-mail as I was traveling without a laptop). I noticed in the morning that the staff had placed coffee canisters on the lounge's bar -- a nice touch that I wouldn't normally expect from Holiday Inn.

The guest room was the biggest surprise of all. Everything in the room was perfectly designed and implemented. It was just big enough to feel roomy; the furniture was plush and tasteful; and everything was spotlessly clean. The bed was super-comfortable (with 4 pillows arrayed in a nice pattern by housekeeping). The bathroom had Neutrogena-brand soap and shampoo: another surprise for a Holiday Inn. There was plenty of shelf space for toiletries.

Many thoughtful touches were designed into the hotel. Holiday Inn claims that it's the "new prototype" for the chain. If so, I'll use them all the time for my business trips. An example of good design: the ice and vending machines are in a closed room by the elevators. Nobody in the guest rooms will be inconvenienced by noise from the machines.

The employees were great -- very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was great too. Note that the restaurant is full-service, and breakfast isn't included unless you book a package rate. For me that's a good thing; I would rather have a proper breakfast than cereal and recently thawed danishes from an "expanded continental" buffet.

I can't rate this hotel highly enough. I would happily stay there again and recommend it to anybody who needs an airport-area hotel. The location is in the boonies, but it's quiet.
