I agree, this hotel is a dump. There were stains on the bed and the furniture and carpet was damaged. This probably is an exception, the Baymont in North Kansas City is much better, I have stayed at both thru Priceline.
SE Kansas City in general is bad, some of the restaurants are not safe to eat at, and the other motels in that area are bad as well. Unless you are desperate, stay in Overland Park or north of the Missouri River.
Stayed at this hotel for 2 nights June 1 - 3, 2005. The room had a foul odor, the beds were old and worn. the furniture was old and damaged. The room was not ready when we checked in at 3:50 PM. the second day the room wasn't cleaned until after 4 PM. We didn't receive all the towels when the room was done. When I inquired for towels from the person cleaning the neighboring room she went through her pile of unfolded towels but was unable to come up with any that were not full of holes. Later that evening we received the missing towels.
I have stayed at Baymont Hotels in NY and found them to be very nice. I think that this place may be an exception.
The area around the hotel seemed to be on the downslide. There were many restaurants that appeared to be closed and out of business yet the buildings were modern. Shopping Centers were like ghost towns. The only thriving place seemed to be Wal-Mart.
I would not recommend staying at this hotel or any of the others in this immediate vicinity. (Exit 69 on I-435)
