June7,o7 Just returned from a few days in Branson,mo.....on the way we spent one nite in joplin, mo at the super 8....over and beyond any super 8 we've stayed at....very clean rooms,breakfast of toast, waffles, blueberry muffins juice and coffee.....this is located just off the turnpike with easy to get back on the next a.m. Plus they have FREE calls to any of the 48 states...we called home and didn't have to use cell phones out of area....DVD's to rent with a wide selection of movies....little fridge and microwaves in the rooms plus coffee pots and coffee...will be sure to stay there again....

We arrived at the Super 8 about 4:00 in the afternoon. The Lady at the desk was polite and helpful.

My first clue as to the condition of the motel was the dark and dingy appearance of the small lobby. We were assigned our room which was down stairs in what appeared to be a half basement configuration. The hallway was dark with a soiled carpet.

Upon entering the room, we found the bed to be sagging in the middle, a dirty carpet, and a repulsive odor that could not be tolerated.

We checked out immediately. I hope other travelers have better luck with this property than I.

This was a halfway point we decided to stop at going from Chicago, IL to San Antonio, TX. This is likely the best basic motel we have stayed at. It's a hotel-motel where you enter the room from the inside hallway, not outside balcony. The rooms were clean, all furniture was in good condition. The place had reliable wireless internet, too. Continental breakfast was decent and the place to sit down and eat was cramped, but come on guys... for $59/night you can't beat it. I give 5 stars simply because of the value.

Cheap but a big security problem!!! No soda machines or snack machines. They keep the sodas behind the counter because the machines keep getting broken into. I see a problem here with security. Raw, splintered wood holding up the beds. The carpet was so dirty our feet and socks were soiled. The toilet and toilet seat were so cheap they moved each time you sat down! Breakfast was cheap and tasteless. Everything in Joplin fills up on the weekends. We were stuck here. Never again! Don't let your loved one's stay here! I didn't feel safe!
