We stayed in this location as a timeshare exchange, but it is not your typical timeshare…. In fact, the front desk told me it’s not really a timeshare at all, it’s a golf community, but 6 of their units are somehow enrolled in RCI. I’m not sure how that works. The desk clerks were actually asking me about how timeshares work.

These are actually cabins on a golf course. The desk told me that they sell golf packages and that generally their guests are men who “want to get away from the job and the wife”! and they put together golf tournaments. There are no pets allowed.

To say there is nothing to do around here is an understatement, but we just needed a last minute get away to peace and quiet, and it was that. We were using a “Bonus Week” certificate so for that price it was as good as a cheap motel, but I wouldn’t have wanted to use a real exchange k to stay here.

As for the accommodations, the cabins have 4 to 8 units in each. We had a 1 BR which was supposed to sleep 4 privately but only had a regular sofa in the living room. Since we just had my MIL with us, and for only part of the time, she didn’t mind sleeping on the sofa. They did bring us linens for her. We told them that we were told it would sleep 4 to which they replied that most of the units do have sofa beds, but that they had no way of knowing how many people were coming… RCI doesn’t tell them that. I replied that it shouldn’t matter and that if their rooms are listed to sleep 4, they should sleep 4. They brought linens down very quickly and the few times we interacted with staff everyone was always very pleasant.

The cabin was clean and the furniture in good repair, although “cheesy”. The living room contained the sofa, two end tables and lamps, two swivel rockers with a combination lamp table between, and about a 15” tv on a small cart. We had basic cable which offered HBO, Discovery, TNT, Fox news, cartoon network, CBS, ABC, NBC, USA, ESPN and Fox. There was one floral print on the wall, a wall clock and a very noisy ceiling fan with a light kit, which would have taken a step stool to reach the pull cord to change the speed. With all the aforementioned lights on, it was still almost too dark to read.

The living area was open to the kitchen and dining. Dining was a rattan set with a round glass top table and 4 chairs. Kitchen contained a full sized refrigerator, dishwasher, small 4 burner electric range, very small microwave, coffee pot and toaster. We were also furnished with 4 plates, saucers, bowls, coffee cups, forks, knives, spoons, one tall plastic tumbler, a couple of glasses, can opener, adequate pot and pans, a few utensils, a cutlery tray, one dish washing cloth, one drying towel, a mini liquid dish soap and a packet of dishwasher soap.

The bedroom contained a rock hard queen sized bed, two wall lamps, two nightstands, an alarm clock, a double dresser, two closets and adequate hangars.

The bath had both a shower and a very large jetted tub with mirrors all around. Towels were changed daily, the bed made, and the trash taken out. Sometimes the kitchen towels were changed and sometimes not. We left tip money for the maids but if we didn’t leave a note with it indicating it was for them, it wasn’t touched.

There was a coin laundry on the facility, but we didn’t use it. We had free WIFI and free local calls, and could have used the nearby Country Club swimming pool or played golf. I was disappointed that there was no outdoor grill available.

As for the area, there really is no entertainment. We did drive to Branson one day, about a 2 hour drive each way, but took the very scenic route through one of the Mark Twain National Forests, across (several times) Table Rock Lake, and toured a cavern outside of Springfield, about an hour away.
