I met my daughter in Jefferson City when she was taking the MCAT. Being a Hilton Honor member, I usually stay at a Hilton affiliated hotel. The Doubletree in Jefferson City is very unique because it is round. The resturant on top of the hotel offers an awesome view of the capitol and city. The hotel staff was very accomodating; the room was clean and updated; the beds were very comfortable; and the omletes were really good. It is located about four blocks from the capitol and two blocks from the main street.

The food in the restaurant definitely does not coincide with the price. I have been to many fine dining restaurants and this does not compare to the quality. If I stayed at this hotel again which I was quite satisfied with the accommodations, I would most likely not eat at the over priced mediocre restaurant.

Overal, this is a standard Doubletree, in the center of downtown. It can be a bit overpriced, especially when it is near capacity when the legislature is session Jan-May. It's not worth $125 a night that it sometimes lists for, but it is fine at $75-$90 a night (I am a government employee, so I generally get the gov't rate of $76 a night. However I was recently informed that the hotel is changing its policy to limit gov't rate rooms to 25/per week.). The staff is generally friendly and compentent, and the furnishing have recently been updated. Hall noise is a problem because of the circular nature of the hotel, all hall noise carries from the elevator lobbies. The lounge has good food, but is over-priced. You can similar quality food down the street from a number of a good establishments for $5-$10 per person less.

I've stayed at this hotel before management changed. The improvements are large and immediately obvious. The lobby is comfortable and the room is upgraded (although still a bit small and pie-shaped). The bed is first-rate.
