Rooms Beautiful.
Devine gardens.
Close to everything, sites, pubs, and resturants.
Host and Hostess - friendly and informative.
Historical plus +++++
Breakfast is soOO superb, hubby and I didn't eat till that evening!
Took a handful of cards home - mum in law has been and ardored the experience!
If you love history, richmond, kitch, antiques, or just having a romantic evening away, this is it.
We Had A Ball
Thanks
A&B.

“Disappointed”

We have just returned from an 8 week trip of Australia and New Zealand and this is the worst accomodation we stayed in. After reading the reviews we thought we were in for something special. The owner gave us a great speech about the history of the place and then showed us our room.
We chose Iris Room because it was the only one that advertised a Queen bed as we don't like a double bed.The room was up 2 flights of stairs and was very small and dark but the bathroom was unbelievable. I have seen bigger bathrooms in a caravan!!!. It had a sliding door off the bedroom and there was just enough room to stand at the wash basin without falling down the toilet. The shower was very tiny and built like a portable one. To say that this was an en suite was a joke!!
The whole place was in need of refurbishing. To say Mrs. Currie's House offers "unique traditional accomodation". It is certainly unique when it comes to the bathroom!!!!
The saving grace was the company of the other guests and a very good breakfast.

We have considered these comments very carefully. Couple of points. There is only one flight of stairs (it is only a double story building). We measured the room, it is slightly over 4 metres by 4 metres, we think a fair size for a bedroom built in 1855, easily takes the queen bed plus other furniture. Room has a full sized window which overlooks the English garden and the village. The whole place was redecorated just over two years ago. The bathroom is not large but we believe the statements in the reveiw are similarly unfair and exaggerated.

“Still lovely, well hosted”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 September 2010

We can confirm that the rating is still high after the previous rating posted in 2008. Well maintained and in keeping with the era of its origin.

“Gorgeous”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 16 October 2008

I loved this place, I loved our room, the owners were super friendly and the breakfast was delicious.
It has been two years since I stayed at Mrs Curries and everytime I think of Tassi, I think of Mrs Curries and Richmond, my favourite place by far. What a beautiful little town.

  • Liked — Quaint old building and made true to its era!
  • Disliked — It was all perfect

“the best in richmond”

We have just returned from a trip to Tassie and would recommend you stay at Mrs Curries B&B in Richmond. The town is just wonderdul, probably the best place in all of Tasmania and then we also found the best place to stay in the town. The house is just beautiful, very clean and inviting, it has new carpet & paint etc but still has it's amazingly historic feel. The owners are also fantastic. We looked at a few rooms before we found it....all I can say is that you won't be dissapointed. (rememebr to say hi to the beautiful dogs there, especialy Holly the border collie).
