“Beautiful Accomodation”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 January 2012

Stayed here 1 night.... but would like to have stayed more! Spent 10 days touring around Tasmania staying at most places for 1 night and this was definately the best place that we stayed. We were given a brief history of the house when we checked in and then we were personally shown to our room. Beautiful room, tastefully old world decorated and clean. Bed was comfortable and the room was quiet (no TV). Wonderful breakfast in the morning with perfectly cooked eggs. Lovely garden and different areas to sit outside. Position in the town is perfect for walking to shops/attractions. Perfect place to stay in a perfect little town. Richmond was the highlight of our trip to Tasmania.

“Beautiful Historic Home”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 19 December 2011

We had a thoroughly enjoyable one night stay in Richmond at Mrs Currie's House - a very historic house with a nicely appointed room (the Iris Room). Marilyn and Patrick are lovely hosts and Marilyn told us that the back section of the house is the oldest continuously-occupied rammed earth house in Australia. The gardens are beautifully manicured and a great place to sit and have wine and cheese after a day of history in Richmond. Breakfast in the morning is tasty and filling and there is a great variety of teas to choose from. The only drawback was the noise from the shower in the bathroom of the room across the hall being used late at night, but being an old house, this is understanderable. Certainly worth the stay.

“Fantastic stay and a great piece of history!”

I have just spent an amazing couple of days in Richmond staying at the fantastic Mrs Currie's House! The building is incredible with all the history and charm that you'd expect from a house built in the 1800s. The owners were so helpful and knowledgable about their guesthouse and the surrounding area, making my few days break even more memorable! The excellent home cooked breakfast was also a great start to the day. I would highly recommend staying here!

“Character, Ambiance - All you could ask.”

We have just returned from a trip to Australia where we visited Sydney and then Richmond in Tasmania, and what a find Mrs Currie's in Richmond turned out to be! From the moment we arrived we were made to feel so welcome by the owners Patrick and Marilyn. Their obvious love of the house and its history was infectious and brought the whole building to life. We were shown round all the rooms and were booked into "The Cottage" which had such a warm and comfortable feel and character by the bucket load - and our own bathroom as well equipped as any hotel facility would be. In the morning we were treated to a first class breakfast - thank you Marilyn - and served with charm and ease by Patrick. Loved the music! As for Richmond itself, it is simply a beautiful village with places of real historical interest and charming people happy to share their local knowledge with you. If you have the opportunity to visit, you will not be disappointed and can only hope you enjoy Mrs Currie's as much as we did.
