Try the one made with coffee and ice cream after a day boarding or sunning.

I stayed at El Burro Borracho for a week in the early part of February, 2009. My friend and I shared a room which had a king size bed and a single bed and an air conditioner. The room was clean the beds were comfortable and the restaurant is only a few steps from your room and is right on the ocean with a fantastic view, really fabulous, inexpensive food, and a great bar. The owner and his family live on site and they have only two rooms to rent. They couldn't be nicer and English is spoken. This is a fabulous place to stay if you don't want to spend a fortune and it's only a very short trip to Zihuatanejo. The beach is clean, the water warm, the lobster fresh caught in the morning and I think it has the best food in Troncones. It's not fancy but the rooms are clean and safe. If you want to experience the expensive side of Troncones you can always walk down the beach to one of the higher priced places to eat dinner, catch some entertainment and drink expensive drinks.

Love it, I'll be back. I prefer Troncones to Zihua because it's quieter, cooler, less crowded and if you want to swim at Playa la Ropa, or eat pizza in Ixtapa you can catch a taxi ride across the street or probably catch a ride into town when they go to buy groceries. This place is perfect for young couples,, surfers or oldsters like me who still have a spirit of adventure and like people.

We spent an amazing honeymoon at El Burro Borracho in April, 1999. We were initially drawn to this part of Mexico after watching the movie, The Shawshank Redemption. Once we saw the beautiful waters of Zihuatanejoe in the movie, we decided to spend our honeymoon there. We flew into Mexico City, took a small plane to Ixtapa, then rented a car and visited Zihuatanejoe. The next day, we drove to Troncones, which was once a small fishing village. We loved relaxing in the hammocks in the restaurant, the darling little rooms with white bug nets around the beds, the pretty flowers that the maid put on our bed after cleaning the room, and the nice, quiet breakfast fruits that were prepared just for us. During the whole time we were there, we only encountered about five people total on the beach! The seashells were large and abundant. The water was so pretty! The lobster in the restaurant was fabulous. We loved visiting with the owners - they were expecting their first baby in a few months! It was very inexpensive to stay in these bungalows. Fresh water was brought in frequently to replenish their water tank supply - it was safe to drink. It was the most amazing and romantic honeymoon in Paradise!

If you don't need 4 star or even 3 star accomodations, but want the beach front property, then this is it. I'm sure it is still the cheapest in Troncones, and fairly bare bones, and from what I hear from my friends who were there last year, still dated. However, they were really sweet, I could really relax, and we had a great time with everyone there.

It was perfect just watching the sunset while enjoying a frosty beverage in my hammock. We played a lot of cards and dominoes, did some swimming, did some late night skinny dipping, enjoyed the quiet and just had an amazing vacation.

This is definitely a place to visit if you don't want all the overpriced, completely Americanized places like Cancun or Mazatlan.
