The Villa Paz is truly a House of Peace nestled into the Nanzal hillside on the quiet north end of Sayulita! The sweeping view of the Pacific Ocean as you enter the home will quite literally take you breath away each and every time you enter it. But whether it is the aroma of tropical flowers, the vivid jungle birds and butterflies that seem to float in the air before you, watching the migrating hump-back whales and dolphins, relaxing in the pool, strolling on the beach, surfing, kayaking, snorkeling, or shopping till you drop in the quaint village of Sayulita while enjoying every moment of the rich Mexican culture, just know that the most mesmerizing sunset awaits your return. This open air spaciously designed home features 4800 sq. ft. of living space. It has all the room you need to gather with groups of people or find a quiet area of refuge. Interaction with guests: My name is Cory Graunitz and I am the owner and operator of Casa Paz. I built the house between 2007 and 2010 and lived in the house until 2012 when I started renting it out as a vacation rental. Although I currently reside in Portland, OR, in the past I loved watching peoples faces when they walk through the door and they see the breathtaking views. I can coordinate your airport shuttle and golf cart reservations if you want. Also, our housekeeper Cecilia is an amazing cook. So if you want her to cook you up a traditional Mexican dinner, just let me know. I'm available through email and cell phone and text message, so we are always in touch prior to and during your stay to assist with whatever you might need and I respond very quickl

Amazing View!
Our stay was great for the most part, that view is unbeatable! Watching the sunset each night was magical. As mentioned in other reviews, that path to get to the house is very difficult and steep. Golf cart is a must if you want to move around frequently. The house is completely open air except for 2 bedrooms and their respective bathrooms so be prepared for heat & little critters! (Small lizards and ants). I would also recommend keeping your shoes on bc we came across 2 scorpions!! Cecilia was amazing, cleaned very thoroughly and was very attentive and was willing to help in any way she could! Corey was communicative as well. Can’t wait to go back! PSA: nothing to do with the stay but beware with the golf cart rental company. Make sure you read contract thoroughly & take pictures of it! The man who rented it out tried taking it a day early claiming it had been 3 days (it had not) didn’t even try to hide where he tampered with the contract (scratching out the date)

lejos
la casa se encuentra muy bonita pero le hace falta mantenimiento, deberian de describir que tan lejos esta ya que la camioneta en la que iba no pudo subir el cerro tan alto ya que es la ultima casa del cerro, unas subidas super peligrosas y con una inclinacion muy grande, ocupas un vehiculo grande o 4x4 para poder subir, tubimos que rentar 4 carros de golf ya que sin estos nos seria imposible llegar hasta la casa, en el interior le hace falta mantenimiento 2 habitaciones cuentan con aire acondicionado de las cuales solo 1 sirvio, en la cocina no pudimos hacer nada debido a que todo te daba toques y con peligro de que un niño se acercara, de igual manera la pastilla termica se "botaba" y no habia electricidad hasta que llegaba el encargado desde el pueblo y la volvía a restablecer; si van con personas mayores definitivamente no podrán subir. la casa fuera de eso esta muy hermosa;

Warning - Owner double books property
Paid a deposit on this property in June of 2017 (for February 2018 travel dates). I received a confirmation from Cory indicating he had received payment and that our reservation was confirmed. He later cancelled the booking in November 2017 stating that the dates were no longer available, leaving us with little time to find alternative accommodations. It should be noted that he tried to dance around the double booking by saying that he never received confirmation from trip-advisor (even though he himself sent a personal message confirming receipt of the deposit and that he updated the availability within his calendar). This has been a major inconvenience for a group of 8 of us that have already booked flights and now are unable to find suitable alternative accommodation.

Kaleb, As I explained in my cancellation to you, this was a HUGE mistake on my part! I had mistakenly read my calendar once I read your message regarding your upcoming stay. I thought I had over booked the property! Your reservation was made automatically by the TripAdvisor system and I didn't realize that you had confirmed the reservation to begin with. The next day, after I paid $150.00 to TripAdvisor for having to cancel your reservation I realized my mistake and called TripAdvisor immediately to see if we could re-book. Unfortunately, you had already re-booked another place. I am SO SORRY for this enormous MISHAP! Kind Regards, Cory

Sorry about the plain truth!
If is sad for me to have to post this, but is true, and I welcome any communication from Trip Advisor regarding it's authenticity. We contacted Cory in February through Trip Advisor and he asked us to sidestep them and book directly with him to save the commission. So we booked our April visit directly and paid him without Trip Advisor. Big mistake. He has not returned our deposit in over a month, and stopped communicating with me nearly 2 weeks ago. There was never a problem with us, nor any question of our deposit being owed back to us. He said he was having problems with the payment service. But the new lack of communication since May 1 convinces me that there other problems with him. We are professionals travelling with young children, and had the utmost respect for his home. I have also been patient for the return of the deposit, but it has not been sent back. Now about the house...First of all it is very difficult to get to, which adds to it's beauty. Our cab broke down and we walked part way. It's the last home on the very bumpy, windy road and some cabs refuse to go there. The homes virtues are also it's curse. The open air feel and absence of doors or screens in the entire living areas (kitchen, dining, pool areas, and downstairs bedrooms) give it a wonderful feel of openness..until dusk. Then the mosquitos come out. My wife and I were in an upstairs bedroom that had doors, so we suffered little compared to the children and our friends who slept downstairs. Sorry Cory, but mosquito nets alone don't cut it. All the children were bitten pretty badly. If it rains, (pray for it without wind), than you'll be OK although the palapa leaks water into the dining/living area. Since the floors are painted glossy concrete, Cory will warn you of how slippery they become when wet. It's also a big problem when exiting the pool. The pool was quite small, and many of the tiles were coming unglued, leaving just the grout and cement that was holding it in those areas. The Kitchen was adequate, although the freezer couldn't keep the ice frozen. The first day we were without hot water, until Cory came and fixed something. One switch arced badly, causing sparks when turned on. We only did that once!! Maid service is some days, not all. Wendy was wonderful and we tipped her appropriately as requested by Cory. Overall I am very disappointed with Cory and plan to share my thoughts about his Villa Paz, also known as the Casa Paz outside of Trip Advisor. I sincerely hope they will allow my review to stay as they further verify it, if needed.

Awesome Trip! Amazing House!!
We stayed at Cory's house for a girl's weekend trip!! First of all, Cory is the most amazing person I have ever rented from. He is beyond accommodating and helpful!!! Super responsive and he helped to ensure that every detail was perfect before we even arrived. Second of all, this house is amazing and the description and pictures don't do it justice. The open air feeling of the house is amazing and it was super clean and well taken care of. We hired Wendy (the housekeeper) to cook for us and I would highly recommend going that route for anyone that wants a super easy vacation!!! Her food was great and she made exactly what we asked for. Cory helped to arrange everything...from being picked up at the airport, to having Wendy help out, to stopping at the store on our way into Sayulita, to recommendations for side trips, to restaurant recommendations, etc.!! Sayulita is a true gem of a place!! Not commercialized. Super safe. Old school surf town feeling to it!! I could go on and on but bottom line is that this place was amazing!! We will be back!!!

Best Place in Sayulita
I have been coming to Sayulita for about 15 years now and have stayed at most of the vacation rentals and hands down this is the best place to rent. Big bedrooms are only dwarfed by the gigantic views this house has. The sunsets are spectacular if you can book this place do it. In addition Cory the owner is a great resource and is friendly helpful host.

Completely Satisfied
I have stayed in Sayulita about 10 times now. This is by far my favorite, and will only book here now. If it's not available, I'm waiting to book my flights when it is available. The house is insane, and Cory the owner is the most friendly guy you'll ever meet. When finding a place to stay, you won't find better. 120% satisfied!

The best place in Sayulita
My friends and I spend an awesome weekend in this wonderful house, once you enter to the house, you run out of words! ... The view it's terrific plus you have a pool there. Every detail in the house is perfect the rooms, showers, I mean, I don't need anything else but food, and I love to cook (the kitchen has everything that you need). In addition to all this, Cory and his housekeeper Wendy are the most kind and care people, they always try to keep you as comfortable as possible. I strongly recommend you to stay in this house, which I will do again. You can't miss this opportunity.

About the neighbourhood
The Villa Paz sets on top of what is known as the Nanzal Hill on the north end of Sayulita. The exclusive neighborhood is known as Windows of the World because of the breathtaking views. Listen to the sound of the waves crash on the beach below you, the sound of the birds chirping and enjoy the gentle breeze and peace and quiet that Villa Paz is known for. There is a 2 car attached parking garage on the main level of the house. If you choose too, you can take a taxi to and from the Villa which only costs $50 pesos or $3.50 USD per trip to most anywhere in Sayulita.
Getting around
A golf cart is the best way to enjoy Sayulita. I can coordinate the golf cart reservation for you. Just pay them when you arrive and the golf carts are delivered to the house. The cost of the carts is $50 per cart per day. Each golf cart can only carry 4 people at a time.

How to get there
Normally our guests arrive by using our preferred airport shuttle service. Up to seven people can ride in each Suburban. The cost of each Suburban is $140.00 USD ROUND TRIP from the Puerto Vallarta Airport TO Casa Paz. If you wish to stop at the supermarket on the way out to the house to stock up there is an additional $30.00 USD charge, which would make your total cost $170.00 USD. Upon arriving at the house, please instruct the driver what time you want them to pick you up to get you to the airport on time on the day of departure. Ricardo and Valencio will be checking your flight status for any delays along your route and will plan accordingly. Ricardo and Valencio will message me and Cecilia, our housekeeper, who will be preparing for your arrival once he has you in his Suburban and are heading out of the airport. Payment to Ricardo or Valencio must be paid in Cash, so be sure to have that in your wallet before departing from the U.S.
