“Come for the warmth, hospitality, location and high standards”

Ths Summer provided our second time at this fabulous hotel and it will not be our last. The welcome received on arrival is so warm and courteous that you feel you have just arrived at a "second" home and the feeling of relaxation starts to immediately kick in. The rooms are bright, airy and quite cool at night which is a godsend in July. The windows have mesh covers which keep out the pesky provencal insects (and there are many!) whilst not compromising the light at all. The breakfasts are so generous and really mouth-watering. Nothing is a problem and the hosts whilst friendly are also very respectful of your own space and privacy. We LOVE the pool.......big and quite warm. There are lovely hikes to do in the area. Ask Christian about the BEAUTIFUL hike of La Contadour. We walked into Mane each evening (10 mins) to an excellent, but very simple restaurant called Le Mane Celeste. The walk back is an adventure.....no paths but a line of plane trees to protect you. Bring a torch! I would not hesitste in recommending this hotel and we will definitely return first chance we get.

“Instant relaxation”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 January 2009

This summer we spent two weeks in Provence staying in three locations. Our first location was by far the best at Mas du Pont Roman. We stayed three nights there and wish that we had booked for longer. Marianne and Christian are wonderful, generous and kind hosts and the hotel is a delight. For us, it was a perfect getaway, particularly after a long and traumatic day of travelling (and that's another story). They mopped our fevered brows and instantly made us feel at home.

Marianne and Christian could not do enough to make our stay comfortable and memorable. The rooms are very tastefully decorated, bathrooms spotless and beds extremely comfortable. Breakfasts were a French feast - jams made by Christian's maman were fantastic.

The location of the hotel is perfect for the sightseer and Francophile. The area has plenty to see, has lovely scenery and is amazingly untouristy. We are currently trying to plan sojourns for 2009 - Mas du Pont Roman will be one of them.

  • Liked — Peaceful and relaxed atmosphere for people who want exactly that
  • Disliked — Nothing comes to mind

“A gem”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 19 August 2007

This charming hotel will not disappoint. Marion and Christian are the best hosts and will attend to your every need. You will be assured of a very warm welcome. The rooms are beautifully decorated in Provence style, spotlessly clean and very comfortable indeed. The hotel is located in a great spot to explore Provence and Christian and Marion have excellent local knowledge - Christian was brought up in the area. The hotel is full of Provence treasures and very well maintained. It is a delight and you will find good friends in your hosts. Excellent local eating places too. This hotel is highly recommended indeed.

“Lovely, quaint and scenic Mas du Pont Roman”

Far from the madding crowd, we found the Mas du Pont Roman on a long awaited trip to Provence. It was our favorite hotel of all of the places we stayed during our 2 week trip. Marion and Christien are wonderful hosts, always ready for a chat and always willing to ensure
every traveler a comfortable, memorable stay. Christien grew up in nearby Forcalquier and both could recommend restaurants, places to see and interesting trips. But, even better than that, the hotel has been renovated to be comfortable and lovely. Each of the rooms is named after an herb. (We stayed in "sauge"--sage.) There are beautiful gardens surrounding the hotel, a spa, indoor and outdoor pools--nicer amenities than most large hotels. But the atmosphere is pure (unadulterated) Provence. We sat out in the gardens enjoying wine every evening and looked forward to every return from each day's sightseeing. Marion prepares delicious "petit dejeuners" and there are wonderful restaurants for dinner close by. We cannot wait to take our family, or to return with just the two of us. The lavender, flowers and scenery are beautiful, but the gracious hospitality even better.

  • Liked — Beautiful representation of true Provence--the real soul of Provence, quiet, beautiful.
  • Disliked — There was nothing we didn't like. For others, they might not like the lack of air conditioning. We were fine.
