“Nice Hotel - But Manager can be difficult”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 November 2011

We just completed a stay at this hotel and for a Interstate hotel, it was very comfortable and quiet. The room was just the right size with a refrigerator and microwave and we rested well. I don't have any problem recommending this property.

Our reservations were business related and the arrangements were made for our stay. I always call ahead to confirm the reservations and found out we were assigned double bedded rooms. I requested that one be changed to a king bedded room. The manager was inflexible saying she would not do that based on a computer coding. The hotel was not sold out, we are Elite Diamond for Choice Hotels, yet she said the reservation had to be cancelled and re-made by calling the hotel in order for her to do that. Way too much trouble for us because other people were involved in the reservations. When we checked in, a wonderful lady at the front desk said there were notes from the manager saying our room could not be changed to a king bed room - the hotel was no where near capacity that evening - maybe 15 cars were in the parking lot. I told her it was a shame that codes on a computer and "procedures" take precedence over the comfort of guests. Within a few minutes I saw her checking the system and low and behold this kind lady was able to put us into a king bedded room. This made our stay so much better and I told her over and over how much we appreciated what she did.

I wish hotel managers would keep in mind the reason they have their jobs - GUESTS! The guest should always come first and they should do whatever possible to make their stays a comfortable and enjoyable experience. To tell a guest they can't do something because of their "procedures" is telling the guest their business is really not appreciated and their rules are more important than the fact someone is spending money at their hotel. Now, if the hotel was completely full, that would have been a different situation. But in a case like this, in a virtually empty hotel, moving us to a king room was not that big of a request - especially in light of my Elite Diamond status with the hotel chain too! Thank goodness there was someone at the front desk the evening we checked in that realized the importance of keeping the guests happy. In my opinion, that lady needs to be promoted to the manager position!!!

“It was clean and the price was right”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 15 September 2011

We were just staying one night while traveling through the St. Louis area. For the price we paid, we couldn't have been more pleased. We were welcomed warmly and efficiently. Our room was clean and comfortable. Nothing fancy, but we didn't expect that from Comfort Inn. The breakfast choices were numerous. Would stay here again.

“About what you'd expect”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 September 2011

Stayed here for 1 night to attend a family wedding. Bed was average. Fridge and microwave in room was nice. This is one of those older hotels where the bathroom sink is outside the bathroom, which I always find very odd. The breakfast was very good. The usual waffles, bagels and cereal, but also eggs, sausage, biscuits and gravy. Our only complaint is the room was very hot. It was not a hot night (in the 70s all day). We turned the a.c. unit down to 65 and still were boiling all night. When the unit would kick on, we would cool off for a minute but then it would turn off again for another 30 minutes of heat.

“Not up to standards”

Although they talk about their updated furniture, etc on a large bilboard along the freeway next to the hotel, I found it a little different. I really didn't see anything new and improved at all. The hotel looked a little worn on the outside as well as the inside. Everyone was pleasant and accomodating. What put me off the most was the stale sweat smell in the hallways outside my room. I guess it just comes with being in the midwest with all the heat and humidity. Bed was OK but the bathroom looked like someone did a poor job of trying to cover up how old the place was. I should have taken some pictures. I didn't rate it too badly but I feel that a little more truth in advertising would be appropriate.

“Comfortable and Clean, But "ONE RUDE LADY WORKS THERE"!!!”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 26 April 2011

person found this review helpful

She is the "NO-SMILE LADY", who usually comes in, in the afternoon. The little skinny one with the chip on her shoulder. She is a sister-in-law to the manager, that is how she got her job!!
Much friendly and better Breakfast at Best Western 2 blocks away. Comfort Inn serves no fresh fruit or yogurt, no bacon, etc. Pickens are slim, and the same everyday!! But they do have good waffles.
The cleaning staff is friendly, and very helpful.
They usually have only one person cleaning rooms, maybe 2, so when they cannot get to all the rooms, they leave them sit for days, with dirty diapers, trash, food, etc.

Room Tip: I would not recommend Comfort Inn
